Played well today. Harmes would've been on the radar of other teams. Good re-signing. Keeps playing well, he is becoming a very consistent AFL level player. What a great first up game after a re-signing.

Grimes needs to stay in the VFL and improve his work in close. Positive signs, but he is going to need to shift gears IMO. Give him a block of games in the midfield, then rotate him with Vince when he comes in. I see a lot of flaws in Grimes. His awareness, his work in close, delay of hand to foot, broader vision, spatial awareness. He is going to need to improve his game before he moves into our best 22. Good start with 149 team points. Realistically needs to do that - and more - every week in the VFL.

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 9
KingDingAling replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
6. N.Jones. 5. J.Hogan. 4. J. Watts. 3. B. Stretch. 2. C. Petracca. 1. Wagner. Honorable mentions - T.Bugg. Could arguably have Bugg on top, I didn't notice his influence as much as others though. I could well do after viewing replay. His stats are very good. -
Mathieson.. Daylight... whoever. What a young [censored] this kid is. He drops to his knees before he even picks the ball up. Vince and Oliver were furious when given frees against - and rightfully so. What a little joker. Mathieson is a blight on the game, Jonas is just an old school type, limited skills, probably tries to over compensate with toughness. I don't like the thugs in football, I always played a fair game of footy. But I hate these young muppets who are dropping to their knees, that isn't footy. I actually would like to see them banned. I don't even want to see Mathieson and McLean on the field.

Promising type. I am somewhat more buoyant about his game than the OP. I thought McDonald was reasonably good in close, and actually saw a slight improvement in his game today. He will be a good KP down the track. I would be sticking with him ahead of Dunn. Wagner certainly looks a find for us as well.

We need to chase that one up. Hopefully Roosy gets onto that post game. If it was touched then fair enough, but it didn't look touched.
-
Whoever is on Tom Bell should be dropped next week. Doesn't matter who it is. 3 goals. FFS.
-
Oliver just barrels it. He is going to be a star that kid. So strong. Bit of Dangerfield about him I think.
-
Hopefully that is just the start for Viv Michie. He looks sharp out there, nice goal Viv, hard work rewarded with that tackle.
-
Neal Bullen is a gun. What a clean kick. The kid will be a star.

Merrett's intention was the boundary, stop whinging you fox footy flogs.
-
We should be belting this mob by a lot more.
-
That was a beautiful kick by Nathan Jones. Just put it out in front of Jame Harmes.
-
Awesome. We finally get a decent free kick.
-
That wasn't high either.
-
That wasn't a free.

We should win, they have a lot out. Sets us up for a charge at the finals, and at the risk of getting ahead of myself - top 4.
-
Harmes is an old school throw back. All footballer. Nomination will do a lot for his confidence. He belongs, now next step. Has the skill set. Rest is up to him.
-
Nathan Brown would compliment our side beautifully. Underrated. He does his job, doesn't get much credit because he doesn't accumulate. As a lock down back man, he doesn't need to though. He would be perfect.

Who is likely to move into Goodwin's seat at years end?
KingDingAling replied to SPC98's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cam Bruce. James McDonald. Brad Green. -
Always hard to say. I never thought Papley would impact at AFL level. I watched him at Power a few times. Wasn't overly impressed (despite his good last year there). I don't know much about this Jaxon Briggs beyond a few articles and wraps from other posters. Casey have had some reasonable country Vic kids over the years, not many have made that next step.

I think that Briggs kid played for Cora Lynn at some point. Tried out at Sandy Dragons TAC. I read an article on it the other week.

Oliver looks to do it all very easily. Put in take out job for the rising star I would've thought. I have been backing him in since the GWS game, I am surprised the TAB haven't cut me off yet. Oliver should be a full time mid (no VFL time), cleanest inside player we have. Eases the burden on Jones, Viney and Tyson.
-
Josh Kelly would be my preference. Not only is he classy on the outside but he is an endurance athlete. A very versatile player, doesn't have to just play mid. The trouble with Prestia is that he can only really play the role of an inside mid. I still think we need an additional inside mid, but I would lean to Kelly due to versatility. Wouldn't complain with either though.
