Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)

Our list was always better going forward. Players don't think ahead. Clark was silly to leave, we have a great young list. -
Post Match Discussion - Round 12 (never in doubt)

How good is this! -
Cats kick 2 and then they are in front. We've dominated all game. Too defensive of game plan when that can happen.
-
Yeah, he is going to struggle next year. Can't see him starting ahead of Nath Jones, Brayshaw or Viney. He'll up competing with Salem, Petracca and Toumpas. He'll have to lift.
-
We should be about 10 goals up.
-
One of Boyd's better games.
-
Spot on, I agree. Just plays for frees. Swallow is hard at it - but a sook. A lot of North's players are sooky... Petrie, Harvey, Swallow. It must be ingrained in their culture.
-
The umps penalise McGovern for being too strong. This is exactly what is wrong with football. Quite frankly, it is pathetic.
-
I'd do a straight swap for Tomlinson. GWS probably wouldn't do that deal, but.. Howe does bring marketability to a vulnerable market (Western Sydney). Maybe Howe and our second round pick - for Tomlinson and their second round pick.
-
I agree, he is going to have to work on his speed. But I think Toumpas has a fair excuse - slow start to his career due to hip surgery. It takes at least a year to build up the core, and I'm not 100% that he did build up a sufficient core after surgery, as he looked very slow last year. I think if Toumpas can rebuild his core, then he'll gain back some strength through the hips, and hopefully gain back that speed. In fairness to him, he does look stronger through the core this year, but still has some ways go in his overall strength. He needs to put more air into those handballs, is that a strength issue? I'm not sure.. But it is still an issue. Toumpas makes simple mistakes that should be really easy to fix. Enough about his weaknesses though, he does have some really good strengths, is a great kick, and a fantastic user of the football. Hopefully he makes it, would be a massive bonus.

The comparison is justified, he does raise a good point. Toumpas has only had 1 good game.

The kid is a beast. Petracca, Hogan, Salem and Brayshaw. That is a core group of kids to get excited about.
-
Howe can actually play. You want us to give up a known quantity for 'just a player'. No thanks.
-
Probably because the outside mids have to learn to play on the inside - if they want to make it at the AFL level. The characteristics attributed to being an inside mid, are at a premium in the AFL (work ethic, 1% plays, gut running, repeat efforts, contested ball gets). Outside mids generally come into the AFL and have to learn what it takes to become an inside mid, if they are going to make it in the AFL - they simply cannot just be an outside player. I think that is why they take a bit longer, and why some don't make it at all.

If they (big footy) think Toumpas is the worst player they've ever seen, then he might actually have a chance. Most of those 'social justice warriors' over at big footy - have never actually played footy. Outside of the drafting section, I would not listen to a word they say. Toumpas played a reasonable game today, an improvement, a step in the right direction, and wasn't the reason we lost the football match. Well done Jimmy.
-
Jimmy Toumpas played his best game, much improved today, he can hold his head high. Well done Toumpas.

I wouldn't go with either Riley or McKenzie. Viney, Brayshaw and Jones add enough grunt. I'd go in with Michie before Riley, McKenzie, M.Jones or Bail. Riley and McKenzie, they only add one paced grunt. Tend to give away a lot of silly frees. We need more players like Angus Brayshaw, who add both grunt - and a sense of timing (can change the pace of their run).
-
Stop sulking you little bishes. This would've been a 186 a few years ago, boys fought on well. Some great promise from some young kids. This is about the long term, not one meaningless game against St Kilda.
-
That's what happens when he kicks it. Well done Toump.
-
St Kilda should've put this away by now.
-
Not quite ready yet ANB.
-
That is a joke of call.
-
Geez Brayshaw is a GUN.
-
Viney takes no prisoners. Play of the year.

The ding. Spot on.
