  1. Had a good year. Few down weeks, but should bounce back.
  2. I said earlier, if we keep playing Matt Jones the AFL should investigate us for tanking.
  3. He is just something else this kid. The friggin hell he doing here. What a player. Sending a message to whoever subbed him.
  4. Sack whoever is our gameday coach. Hopefully it isn't Goodwin.
  5. ANB is just damn right dangerous, effective. Kid is going to be a star.
  6. You'd think after Oxley carving us up, that we'd lock down on these types. No excuse really. Whoever is our game day coach, he really needs to get back to basics.
  7. ANB sticking it up to selection, good on you kid.
  8. I worry that if Roos keeps playing Matt Jones that the AFL will do us for tanking.
  9. Is it fair that the media displays Harley Bennell as a poster boy for GC's drug culture? I wouldn't of thought so. Apparently there are many others caught up in this, yet the public want to crucify Bennell by media. It is unfair and quite frankly, it is disgraceful. I don't usually get caught up in issues of race, but the public hanging of Harley Bennell is nothing but racism.
  10. If Liam Cameron doesn't raise this issue after the game, then he is a puppet. Adam Treloar only just touched the ball 5 mins ago, he called holding the ball - it resulted in a goal. Anthony Miles gets tackled, does a 540, is given leeway. This has happened all day. Coaches have to step up like they do in the NRL, they have to voice they opinion, this is disgraceful. In this day and age, we have absolutely deplorable bias. It's not acceptable, and coaches have to be vocal.
  11. It shouldn't even be close. Umps have kept Richmond in this. Hopefully GWS don't drop their heads because of it and fight out these last 5 mins.
  12. I recently helped a friend of mine get off ice. He has been off of it for 6 months now, lost his marriage, can't see his kid, has a string of domestic assaults to his name. Prior to doing Ice he was a hard working fella, provided for his family, etc. It is a terrible drug, the worst of the worst. Like many, I couldn't help but jump to conclusions - at least in my own mind - about the recent events in Adelaide.
  13. Yes because it involves jumping off either foot. At a stoppage, if a player breaks left or right he forced the tackler to do the same. In this regard, it is similar to ruckman using both hands at stoppages. Both involve jumping off either foot.
  14. Sad loss, a real 'blokes bloke', there isn't many left. Will be devastating for the wife, heart goes out to her.
  15. Hung out to dry. Poor kid. We already know he wasn't the only one participating. It is wrong. These media outlets should hang their heads in shame.
  16. I don't know, but he is one of the most talented footballers I watched over the carnival. He is a rich mans Brent Moloney with a better inside game and more effective by foot.
  17. It's just a joke. Grossly unfair these academies. All in the name of a $$, that's why these academies exist, not in the best interest of the game - and the fairness of it.
  18. Not only is Dustin dual sided by foot - but also by movement. He spreads to both sides, tackles to either side, his running patterns are that of a dual sided player. This is what makes Martin exception, and although Joel Selwood isn't known for his brilliance on his opposite foot, he consistently breaks to the left regardless. In Dustin Martins case, it would be naive to assume that just because he is dominant on his natural foot - that he does not have an opposite foot. Martin would comfortably sit in the top 20 in the AFL by competency with his opposite boot.
  19. I agree with you that Petracca would be a great mentor. He has previous experience in more professional environments than AFL. But, In the case of Harley Bennell, I don't see a whole lot Christian Petracca can do for him. Lumumba on the other hand, he could offer quite a lot - same with Roos.
  20. Spot on, we'd have a few. The thing is with the Gold Coast is that drug use in a public manner - damages their brand. The AFL is primarily a business these days, so when players go out and participate in drugs, get caught - that damages the brand. I think the AFL would be more annoyed that this came out - than they would be about the issue of drugs itself. The whole 3 strikes concept is modeled around secrecy and keeping things in house - away from the public knowledge. The AFL has hidden behind a 3 strikes system that it swears is in the best interest of the health/well being of the player. Conveniently, the 3 strikes system gives the AFL the best opportunity to protect the AFL brand.
  21. If Martin check sided on his dominate foot, it has more to do with the angle - and less to do with his competency on his opposite foot.
  22. I think someone mentioned earlier in the thread that players should abandon the Hun and 360. Players should do that, but they won't. I see that muppett Damien Barrett was on the footy show last night trying to preach ethics, its like all the sudden he has some principles. Give me a break Damo.
  23. Wines, Martin and Brayshaw - all dual sided. That is why they are so damn good. Because they are effective on both sides of the body, they also spread either side, it really opens the game up for them. I haven't seen any player this year in that mould. MFC is well positioned in the draft, we either take the best KP who slips through the net - given that KPs are touted top 3 picks (Schache, Weitering and Francis), or.. We instead decide to take the best mid in the draft - whoever that may be. Personally, I would take the best KP early, then take Lovell - or Gresham if he slipped - with our next pick.
  24. Yeah, it is ridiculous to suggest that its all 'black or white'. It's god or the crack pipe. I reject that notion completely. Ablett Jr would've seen more than 90% of footballers, he wouldn't be the type of guy to divide a club over a drug issue - nor ostracise a teammate over drug issue. I mentioned on here last year that Bennell is no clean skin, if anything, I'd have my money on Bennell leading them all astray.
  25. Yeah I tend to agree. The AFL looked at the rapid growth in QLD and arrogantly assumed that another QLD based AFL side would appeal to the masses. QLD is largely an NRL state, it was naive by the AFL to implement a team in QLD - just because it has a growing base. On the other hand, Tasmania has over a 100 years of historical roots. There is no pressing need to sell the game to the masses - that hard work has already been done. I think the AFL are now starting to realise that a team in Tasmania is more than doable, not only would it be viable economically, but it would add to a game in desperate need of romanticism. Not only has the public not bought into these plastic franchises, but it would now appear that the players also haven't either.
