Get Jonathan Brown!!!

G'day Fellow Demons Supporters!

I seriously think we should try and move heaven and earth to snare Jonathan Brown from the Brisbane Lions.

Stuff the filthy Magpies trying to get him!

Imagine what a coup for the MFC it would be if we had Jonothan Brown playing for us next year?! ;)

Better the Chri$ Judd(ollars) who decided to "rub salt into the wound" for Carlton against us yesterday! <_<

Anyways, I'm not saying that we will get him..but we should atleast TRY to get him!

Considering the bloke has talked every Brisbane player that even thought about leaving into staying (with the exception of Aka) it would be very hypocritical for him to leave himself.

he ain't going nowhere!

He's not leaving Brisbane.

Get Jonothan Brown....Into your dreamteam's!!! (not this week, but in a week or 2)

his value has dropped massively to 315,000 and has a break even score of 82 this week (meaning he could drop even further if he gets below 82 points).

If you've got any cash cows be prepared to sell them in a week or two.

A clever trade imo would be Cyril Rioli for J.Brown in 2 weeks time.

Rioli has increased his value to 220,000, and he is still climbing in value. in 2 weeks his value could be about to platuea at around 260,000. Brown will not increase in value much over the next 2 weeks because the values are based on 3 week rolling averages, and this week he scored only 29! for an extra 50,000 you can gain yourself JBrown, who surely will start to improve over the course of the season

Should we put all our eggs into 1 basket and go for broke , or just go broke ?

I would rather number 1 draft pick cause he is getting on, probably 3 or so years left in him i think i heard him say, rather the best of the best young talent

West Coast wasn't able to get their hands on the number 1 pick even with Chris Judd as bait, so no, Brown is not worth the number one pick.

Nothing stopping us from getting both is there ?

Nothing stopping us from getting both is there ?

Yep. The fact Brown will never leave Brisbane.

Stuff trading for him. If he is was to leave Brissy, and come to us, there would be just as much chance as getting him through the PSD (which is none at all).

Sure we would be screwing over the Lions, but i'm sick and tired of being the nice club. They screwed us over in the TJ deal. It should have been pick 8 for TJ (with us paying some f his salary) or pick 14 for TJ and no payments.

Screw the Lions over as they screwed us. (I re-iterate that there's no chance of getting brown)

Brown will not leave the lions. And if he did have a brainfade and walk, we should sit pretty at the bottom of the ladder and see what happens. #1 pick and a free browny would be enough for me to pay for 3 years membership up front.

Browny in red and blue will not happen.

#1 pick, that is a different story!

The state of our football club, I doubt any big named player would even think about jumping ship... I would be far more happier driving to the lexus centre than Casey aswell.. Looking as we will finish last, we would have the draft picks to deal for a big name player. Would we want Johno Brown at a price? Or even Fev? Throw in a Ben Cousins and I could see Melbourne FC turing around pretty quickly. Look what Chris Judd has done to Carlton. Two quality players would make a huge difference (atleast 6+goals) a game. The issue would be we could miss out on a Jack Watts who could gives a 10+ years and become the next Johno Brown, who prob has 5 years left in him.. Money would be anther problem, i doubt we could offer the big $. In my option i would keep building, and go with the kids. We need to bring out the best in the kids we have/draft. I can see the light with our club.

At the ripe old age of 26?

I think it was a fair call - Brown won't pull a Bradley/Harvey.

1. Brown won't leave.

2. He wouldn't choose the Dees even if he did want to leave.

3. I'd rather keep pick 1. I reckon Brown's body is the equivalent to a 30 year old's with the injuries he's had and the crash and bash nature of the game he's played. Brereton was finished as a decent footballer at 26. Lyon's back was stuffed at 28.

No thanks.

Money would be anther problem, i doubt we could offer the big $.

Without wanting to really wade into the debate over whether this would be possible/likely/desirable I thought I might point out that (despite the club debt) the money factor is actually one thing that could work in our favour in such a scenario, given that Brisbane are probably straining under their salary cap whereas we will be retiring a lot of our more expensive players and running with a bunch of cheap kids...

Brisbane wouldn't be all that tight in the cap would they? No Voss, plenty of veterans to ease things up. They have a pretty young list also. I doubt they are under much pressure at all.

I would say no to Brown if it meant we lost 1st pick in the draft. At any other price I would probably go fo it, but its a very unlikely scenario.

He is building a 2 million dollar house in Brisbane with his girlfriend, he’s not going anywhere.

Look, If J.Brown was 22 or 23, the heirarchy might condsider it. The fact he's nearly 27, he would be a huge risk. I think we have seen the best of him. It would be at a huge cost. Better to keep Picks 1 and 17,18. Keep developing. Bailey wants the list from 18-24 yold.

List management: OUT: Neitz (retired), Holland, Weetra. UP FOR TRADE (target another early draft pick): Bruce, Jamar, Petterd, Yze or White and pick 18.

Sure, maybe trade a Bruce (29) in order to receive perhaps a first round draft pick at best 14 or 15. You won't get better than that. The Bulldogs, Swans or even Saints might top up.

AIM: to have pick 1, anywhere from pick 8-13 and picks 17, 33 heading into the draft.

would be great to have, but simply too old... trading for brown would be a half measure... might get us to the finals, but will we be ready for a grand final tilt while he's still around playing his best footy? i wouldn't think so...

I'd rather get a Porpylzia than J.Brown. But Adelaide have chained him down, so that is out of the question. Where is Pavlich at? When does his contract expire?

gee that's fascinating thanks for that ;)

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
