If we continue to get belted by 100 points for the next few weeks, do you think the members, club officials and supporters will continue to grin and bare it? Will any excuse be accepted? What do you think would happen?

Maybe a 3 legged race to show the players how team work, works...

mate I really can't bring myself to think about it

let's just say it could compromise our existence

furthermore I'm struggling to see it turning around

I think so, the worse thing that could happen to us this year is for there to be a board spill or unrest over coach etc

As much as we will all be hurting this year, I think we will see a different side by round 12, in terms of personal, I think the kids will get more of a go and the likes of Yze will be playing at sandy, this will be like hawthorns first year under Clarkson I believe.

right on the money I think condemned84.

I think half the reality is Bailey would have come in with an assessment that we "had a bit to do". I think his player's protfolios will have been marked with various.. keep..watch... dump if dont shape up...and that was at beginning of year.

even if we bomb out ( what am I saying..IF ) it wont change much .

Chances are pres is going and we wil have only had the new Footy panel in place a year.. . Youd either have to be delusional or extremely optomisitc to hink we'll make much of a fist of anything til next year at earliest.

this is the time to sort out the weeds..geting ready for some pruning.. and laying the groundwork to replant and grown.

wont be much of a Springtime this year for MFC !!

Exactly whether the margin is 100 points or 1 point or even if we crack a win there are some messages and guides to the future already which have been and will be confirmed.

I think DB is on the right track and knows what he is doing and what has to be done going forward. Its not a quick turnaround.

I have said to my wife both times as she has dropped me off at the station that we will get flogged, but as much as it hurts I know that this is the start of a new era and I am going to see the kids and to see who is stepping up to the plate and who will be going at years end.

09 has started was somebodies statement in another thread and I actually agree.

Correct! DB is under no illusions as to the size of the task ahead. Regardless of which of the shortlisted candidates was given the job the task was going to be a hard one and there are no short term fixes. No point going for easy option of seeking a win for win's sake 3 games into a 3 year term!

Undoubtedly there will be a lot of negative comment and speculation about the MFC this year and certainly has been heaps today. The Pres. has come out to emphasise the MFC is not in crisis which is true but I dont think Paul's comments carry much weight these days with either MFC members or elsewhere. Unless the NMFC or RFC have very bad year's MFC is likely to be the main punching bag for the press in 2007.

However I see a lot of similarities with how Al Clarkson was bagged in his first 1 and a half seasons. Many HFC fans were calling for his head!! Hawks game plan which Al and Todd V have got into place and way they have go the players moving and positioning so well is very impressive. Now a serious top 4 contender & premiership threat. 4th year of their coaching group!

It will take at least this and next season for new MFC coaches to get the list the way the want it. Sadly several of the MFC's favourite sons over the past decade will end their playing days without the ultimate success. We need to be looking at how the new regime handles this process.

Well the worst thing is these bad losses are happening now! The worst time of the year when the club is trying to sell memberships. Thats where it hurts the club the most, financially. If we don't sell memberships and put our sponsors in the lime light we wont succeed

Spot on.

It will take a season or two before Dean Bailey is able to get the list and game plan that he wants.

At the moment he is working with what he's been given, which unfortunately is not a whole lot.

Big losses are demoralising and I hope like hell that we don't keep getting belted, however it is important to keep our focus on the destination rather than the journey. The worst thing we can do is not stay united on all fronts. We need everyone at the club working together to help Bailey, not hinder his plans by overreacting and making rash decisions based on weekly losing margins.

Besides, if you don't finish 1st in the AFL, it pays to finish last. At this rate, we're a shoe-in for another bunch of good draft picks :D

If we keep losing we will get closer to picking up the quality key position players that the side is screaming out for!

II have to say, I am loving these 100 point losses

It means Bailey has found out very quickly who is not up to the task

From ROund 10 onwards, I doubt we will see the names Bruce, Yze, Robertson, Miller, Jamar, White and Green in the side ever again

That can only be a good thing

I agree 100% that was our thoughts when we went to the first game

unfortunately, it looks like carlton will be getting the top pick anyway...if they happen to win around that 4 game-mark

Thats why we MUST NOT beat carltank or Tiges.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
