I will be there junior to clap you on your 200th game. You have been a one club player who has played many magnificent games for us. The 2 best and fairests show what a great player you have been. Every week you go in hard. Well done and hopefully the boys can be motovated to win for you.

I'll be there for Macca. If they put in another insipid performance, god help us all.

I'll be there because I'm a sucker for punishment

I'll Be back

However after 45 years this is just getting harder & harder.

AHHHH The rollercoaster continue's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cant make it, I am heading to Buller

Snow, or no snow

I'll be there with my kids. I took all three today ,which has become a Mahoney tradition in round 1. I checked with all three on the drive home and all three said they were not put off by today's miserable (and statistically historic) event. They said they would come again because watching the new players develop was exciting. I should add that all three are under 14yoa. So bring on our first home game. I would think that anything under 50 points in arrears would be a step forward

Well, I can't get to the game, living interstate and all, but I will be bringing a few friends down to the local footy club to watch the game again, and have a bit of a kick beforehand.

By the end of the season they'll all be demon supporters.

I'm also going to buy a copy of the 150th special history for a long-lapsed Demon I know. I figure the connections between history that he'd know, and the stuff on the current team, would give it a shot at bringing him back into the active supporter fold.

What are other people doing?

Kids are resilient, which is an essential trait for any Melbourne supporter. I also took my three daughters today aged 7,10 & 13 and they have already asked me to take them next week.

I'm a Demon, and it doesn't matter how we play, I'll always be there.

If you jump off this early, you need to take a long hard look at yourself.

Bring on the Dogs!

Rain hail or shine, I'll be there

Say, were you sitting on level two at the punt road end behind the goals? With three little girls?

If so I was the dude behind you!

I'm buying a new car on our next day (guess which one) and heading to a holiday destination (guess where)

Talk about someone showing pride in the jumper and I struggle to name anyone better than junior that I've seen. Week after week he pulls himself up from the base of packs, always goes when it is his turn. Did he also have CFS in his teenage years? I don't reckon there's an ounce of footy talent that he's left undeveloped. Few can say that. I'll be there.

^^ what he said

yeah...but is it OK to give the next week a miss ??? lol

Now I just have to decide.. to pack ham-salad rolls.. or just a big swage of Humble Pie ??

It will be as much out of curiosity as support to be honest.. Im just interested to see what sort of effort they come out with after yesterdays "day of shame"

Hint for next weeks Banner....just one word .............. SORRY !!

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
