need to send Neita to the laser vision clinic. long been of the view he is struggling with the eye sight. just can't seem to see the ball the way he used to.

look at old Fox vision. He could mark anything and now he seems to struggle for vision and timing

Also, his leading is not what it should be, and that might be because he lacks clear perception of depth and distance when the ball's 70m-odd away. The onset of myopia can be so gradual and insidious that the victim is unaware of the disability. It's only when the vision is corrected(contact lenses or, more radically, laser surgery),that the sufferer realises how poor his eyesight was before the correction.

not when he was younger. saw a game on fox a couple of months ago and he dominated. could not miss a mark.

You reckon with all the medical and training resources at a football club's disposal that they wouldn't have investigated that?

I have had the same thought from last year as well when he missed sitters but I thought that it isn't possible they must check eyesight. I nearly wrote something then and thought nah nobody will think the same.

I guess they do the basics. However sometimes its not just a read the lines chart as there are a whol range of probelms that can be associated with the eyes including tracking, reaction time to symbols etc that need to be checked via a optomologists.

The first quarter of the "merger match" under lights - outstanding vision & hands. Can you believe how quickly those years have passed.

Now, if you were not of the Demon persuasion, that miss the other night where Neiter got sconned must have been absolutely hysterical.

Perhaps it is NOT Neitz that needs the optha-thingy.... eye doctor.

Have a very close look at the replay of the marking/head butting incident from last Friday's match and you will see that he had his left arm slapped just as the ball arrived!!

You can't fault his technique either. He was clearly trying to take the mark in front of his face. The fact the ball hits his face proves this.

Take another look!!.

it has been a rarity over the past few years where Neita has either taken the mark with one grab or taken a contested mark. He used to be much better at these 2 things. Maybe he isn't as confident anymore but something has changed in Neita's marking over the past few years. His ability hasn't deterred but something in relation to his marking has. He is no longer the guy you send the ball on top of the pack to because he can't take many contested marks anymore. His leading is so bad and his kicking/passing has got better i think. Although he is an AFL footballer and is meant to do it all the time, his pass to Green who dropped the simplest of marks was beautiful

That absolute sitter chest-mark he dropped between CHF and the centre ,when we only 11 points down and fighting back well,was an absolutely catastrophic blunder by the Captain. Captains' goals inspire. Captains' blunders dishearten. The ball was swept up forward for a Geelong goal. It made me furious. I don't know what it did to his team-mates.

Also the dreadful fumble after his admirable chase, when his opponent over-ran the ball, leaving him alone, with time to pick out an option near goal. I can't blame his eyesight for that one!

Perhaps a run with Sandy would help him regain confidence.

He only dropped one mark, unfortunately it was at a critical stage of the match.

He kicked 1.3 in the first half, and if he had kicked 4 in the first half we may have won the game. He still has a role to play in the team no doubt about that.

He actually kicked 2-2 but a goal umpire robbed us of a goal presumably because he was intimidated by the locals!

What about his failure to shepherd Chris Johnson's kick from 50 against the wind?....he only needed to give it another centimetre.

But what disappoints me is his failure to present! Many times players would break free from the centre, look upfield, and see no-one leading. Naturally they look for Neita first, but he just waits behind the pack, hoping for the easy one over the back. By the time they look for another option, it's too late.

He even did this repeatedly in the last quarter, when it was glaringly obvious the ball would drop short.

The Geelong defenders couldn't believe how easy it was to stand in front of the pack and mark unopposed. Neita was waiting at the back...perhaps occasionally shepherded there by defenders, but usually seemingly hoping for the miracle long one over the back.

I love our Captain. I'm eternally grateful for the courageous service he's given the Club we love for so long. I think he's a great captain. I now am of the opinion that he's a liability on the field. I pray I'm eating my words after the North and/or Carlton games.
