g'day gang....

I hope these artist's computer generated impression of our future club admin and training home gets you a little excited.

The project is real, a fact I know I sometimes forget about, but in the very near future, our boys will have a state of the art stadium to train at.....

...a couple of the images below you may have seen before, and the moment more pics of the interior are available, i'll post them here too.

peace

Where will the players train exactly?

yeah, the images don't actually show the interior of the stadium.... when I get some of those images, i'll post them.

I get this thread is just a reminder that there'll be a stadium build in the precinct that will be called home by the MFC.

It is pretty exciting isn't it!

I know we will be sharing parts of the facility with other codes, but having the MFC with a permanent home in the heart of Melbourne is brilliant.

Bring on 2009!

Cheers Finks - I wonder if these photos were shown to Judd during our presentation.

They were. He just didn't like the bubbles.

BTW, does anyone else think they could have saved a truck load of money by go for a more simple (yet still visually pleasing) exterior design?

hey mate, hope you're enjoying your holiday!

just a question, im not so familiar with the new development, but will there be a separate training ground attached to this new stadium?

or will we be the only club in the afl training on a rectangle?

if it is just 1 ground, its gonna get some wear and tear too...storm and victory both playing home games there and us training.

great position though, are they building a social club?

Nah, Melbourne will be training on Gosch's Paddock, where Colling#$@% currently train. Our Administration will be based in the new stadium, along with our gym, recovery rooms, pool, etc, etc.

We will use our new stadium facilities like Colling#@%$ uses the lexus centre, and we'll train on Gosch's Paddock. No doubt we will train on the ground for some things though.

I have no issue with training at the collingwood ground. Im a massive victory fan and they really need a stadium as i dont think the dome is approaprate. It would cost too much and be too large to have a footy field and soccer/rugby field on the same facility.

i think we will train indoors as much as posible but things like goal kicking will be done out side.

Drills ect will be done inside. the kind of things that all we need is grass and were sweet.

Going to miss junction tho great memories

I jogged past Gosh's paddock at lunchtime today.

Gosh, there is a lot of Collingwood sponsors' advertising on the fence. I presume our sponsors will have equal rights when we're there.

At the moment their ads. are the ones visible from the freeway.

We mustn't let them stomp all over us.

Thanks Finks. Do you know when some of the detail will be released to the members?

I'll believe it when I see it in year ??????

No we will not be training on Gotschs paddock. There is a new oval to be built alongside our facility. Collingwood will share that with us. Until that time Collinwood has to train on the paddock, and when the new one is operational, they will have to walk past our home to use it.

Wonderful. Hope that means we get advertising rights and of course, first use of the ground when we want it.

The stadium looks great. I know we won't actually play games there, so I'm hopeful that our presence will still be felt.

Do we know what this place will be called yet, and are we planning on erecting a massive MELBOURNEfc sign for all to see as they are driving past?

I wonder how that will work ;o

Hopefully we get dibs, and if the Pies want to train at the same time they need to play on the paddock ;o

Thanks the facilities look great and will certainly be good for the players .

I wonder if we should send these to Chris I am Great Judd perhaps he may take back his comments the setup looks to be better than Carlton.

I thought the Junction oval was too small to do full field practice and now I see we're moving into a soccer stadium????

How's that going to help?, I guess it will teach us to use the corridor.

I recieved a letter saying that they had only raised 2.2 milliong of the 4 million required. If all the people who use this site donated $10 it would raise close to $140,000, that would be a huge benefit for the club.

Do you know when construction is actually due to commence? Has it started already? Any plans/concepts of the actual MFC training and administration bit?

It looks amazing, but i'm just waiting for construction to begin on it now.

Well it's got bubbles, anyone who also follows West Ham in premier league will be happy.

I'm forever blowing bubbles, Pretty bubbles in the air.

They fly so high, nearly reach the sky, And like my dreams they fade and die.

Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere...

I'm forever blowing bubbles, pretty bubbles in the air.

to the tune of "i like aeroplane jelly" i think.

It's Game Day and the Demons return to the MCG to face the Tigers in their annual Blockbuster on ANZAC Eve for the 10th time. The Dees will be desperate to reignite their stuttering 2025 campaign and claim just their second win of the season. Can the Demons dig deep and find that ANZAC Spirit to snatch back to back wins?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

  • PREGAME: Richmond

The Dees are back at the MCG on Thursday for the annual blockbuster ANZAC Eve game against the Tigers. Can the Demons win back to back games for the first time since Rounds 17 & 18 last season? Who comes in and who goes out?
