Just imagine this:

F: Robertson, Neitz, Williams

HF: Davey, Newton, Yze

Williams would be a massive addition to our side. He is in the Russell Robertson mould and kicked 63 goals in 2005. Sure, he had a knee injury this year but if anything that makes him cheaper to get. What if we got pick 14 or 8 for Johnston and on-traded to Hawthorn for Mark Williams??

I know it's not a Robertson vs Williams debate, but I think it's a case of the 'ol marginal utility - having one is great, but adding a second one isn't quite as good.

i'm pretty sure hawthorn rate williams more than you guys are letting on..

Also is a FF in the context, that he has no defensive qualities.

With Robbo, Neitz, resting ruckman, possibly Green...

Nah, good player though.

I was under the impression he was under contract. If not, how would he slip to pick 3? Even with a stuffed knee the tiggies and Carltank would give him a go.

What sort of price would be on his head? 200k per year? I would rather not pay him that, and save the forwardline spot for a developing newton/dunn/ garland type.

Besides, we have 3 top 25 picks, one of them could be a forward.

Newton at Half Forward.. Not yet i reckon

Lets not forget.. its Miller time in 08

Williams is a jet.. but yeah some of the best players havent come back from knee's

If the ox did from 3, he is worth a shot

I think it's imperative that Newton is played at CHF. If we see him as a replacement for Neitz, or a CHF, we cannot protect him in a pocket because with Neitz and Robertson right next to him, he'll never see it.

He will have no room and he won't develop. You may aswell play him at Sandy.

Newton has to be given first crack at CHF in 2008.

His knee issue aside, I'd look at him if I didn't think that he is only capable of playing a lead and mark type role.

We don't need anymore marking forwards, we need crumbing forwards and forwards who can apply pressure on the opposition when the ball hits the ground.

He might be small, but much like Robbo, he plays as a tall leading forward. He'll make our forward line too one-dimensional.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
