id hate to lose petterd the guy has so much poise and class about him, then again Frawley is a KPP.... but if we had to choose id trade Frawley remember this is bringing us Judd some hard calls have to be made but yeh i have that kind of emotional attachment to Petterd and we need pace in our side and hardness, Ricky brings both these!

I would be [censored] if we lost either!!

After plenty of thought, I have decided that I would be more [censored] if we gave up Petterd..... Like others have said, he has class and poise and I love the reference to James Hird earlier in this thread.... The kid has footy smarts and that is more valuable than a potential KPP (IMHO)

I'd keep Petterd despite the fact he's not a KPP...

Just oozes class and I think he's closer to being a matchwinner than Chip...

But yeah, they're among the last players I'd want to lose.

I will honestly cry if we lose Frawley or Pettard. Judd is not worth the loss of either of these players. We have a very ordinary backline and have had one for years. In my opinion its the 3rd worst defence in the leigue. Frawley looks the goods. As for pettard, well he knows how to get the ball and i believe hes the X factor in our team. Judd is not worth it. Seriously Moloney, sylvia and now Judd will all be OP players on our list.

If Judd chooses us, and that's a BIG if, I'd rather keep Frawley.

KPP don't grow on trees.

Yes they do. We've had heaps.

It's not that I know Judd is not going to choose Melbourne, I'm just not getting hyped about the possibility. Being positive about your team winning the flag is fine, but being positive about a player coming to your club isn't. I just think people are setting themselves up to be really, really let-down. Positivity is fine when it's in regards to the club, but when its having faith as to whether a player is going to choose us, well, I think it's a little silly. I'm just not all that confident he'll be at MFC next year. But god, I hope I'm wrong, believe me.

spot on, carlton and collingwood will be working out trade options just as good as what were putting up. get your hopes up to high is only setting yourself up for a fall. if he comes he comes......

Exactly.

I should have probably said "GOOD KPP don't grow on trees".

The point is still the same.

Petterd may be a great player, but if Frawley ends up a good key defender, he'll be more valuable than Petterd in the long run.

Petterd every day of the week.

I'm a big fan of Chip, but still have question marks.

Petterd had that footballers look from the first second, then some.

He was looking more impressive than Gibbs, and is so fearless he probably is at the wrong team.

Keep.

What if Frawley turns out to be yet another stinker?

Petterd is less of a risky investment. He's a lot more likely to make it than Frawley.

True, but IMO Frawley won't be a stinker, far from it.

That's exactly why I don't want to lose him. I don't want to lose either, just to make that clear.

I have been reading 'land for a few years and thought occo that you knew a little bit.

You cannot be serious.. Surely we dont need to talk about how good Judd is and what he could bring to the club.

Of course we will have to give up someone and probably someone we dont want to.

He will be worth it. I think he may bring his own X factor... just a hunch...

Dont disagree about our defence. But Rivers and Bartrum back, and Belly improving, will be good. Our midfield improvement will improve our defence too. More pressure on delivery, getting numbers back etc.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
