Out of the last 5 games, which ones' were you at?

My brother & I go to just about every game of the year mate!

Been to rounds 16, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, & round 1.

So yeah, I got a bit sonny. Only one interstate game but hey, at least I'm trying...

Why does everyone wanna fight?

Thought we were all Demon supporters!

Im sure he wouldn't have started the thread unless he went to games mate.

Even if he just goes Victorian. Still a damn good effort in my eyes.

Back off someone trying to give it a go on here.

A simple question to get a feel of how enthisiastic the new poster was at attending games.

And, he/she answered my question, so pull your head in!

You're name's pretty funny under the circumstances.

Look mate, no-one's picking a fight with you. Up til now you're the only one to hurl childish abuse at people. Some of the posters here have been at it on this site for over 1000 posts (some more), so it's fair to assume they have a good feel for what's tolerated, and what's frowned upon. Unfortunately, internet forums have ZERO accountability, so it's up to the community as a whole as well as the mods to inform new people of what will help build the site, and what will create open-forum-warfare.

When a poster, be they new or old, comes on and brings people's dedication into dispute, what do you expect will happen? And for the record, you're not exactly helping by making wild assumptions that people here are teenagers with their willys in their hands.

Your enthusiasm is nothing if not impressive, and underneath Jaded and others' disciplinary tone lies the beating hearts of true demons supporters who can relate to you more than it seems, given the lack of specifics in an internet forum.

I don't know if you've read 'land for long, or 'ology for that matter, but every three months or so this exact same thing happens. A new member gets on and makes themselves feel better by swinging a wrecking ball through the threads, and since he shows little regard for the forum's identity and that of it's major posters, he gets ganged up on and ends up leaving either in a huff or with his tail between his legs. For the record, you're not in that boat, but it would be a shame to see such a passionate supporter denied the opportunity to become a member of the "family." God knows we need a few supporters with their fair share of angry pills...

So yeah... long story short... welcome, and I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the finer points of the club, list, coach etc etc...

Cheers.

Oh yeah... GO DEES!!!

Thanks for that??

This response alone has provided me with sufficient information to decide whether it's worth reading anything more from you.

P.S. so far this year I have missed the Gabba game, and will probably miss the Collingwood game due to work commitments.

I normally can't get to 2 or 3 a year, which works out to be quite a few when you have been a supporter for 30 odd years.

Enjoy your time here, you will be spanked.

Just another quick one. If you want to bag anyone, bag the cheer squad. The redheads have been absolutly dismall this year. Any game at the G i sit close to them and i cannot beleive how often they sit on their hands doing nothing to get spectators into the game, anyone else noriced this?

If you want to bag out a supporter group then get a clue before doing it. There have been many games this year in which there were barely any supporters outside the cheersquad area. The Essendon & the Kangaroos are 2 games that come to mind without even trying. Ok, I'll admit that we haven't been as loud this year as previous years, but what has there been to cheer about? And why do people rely on the cheersquad to get everybody - why can't they do it themselves? There are a few people who are constantly trying to get everybody going, but unfortunately not many follow (that's including people inside AND outside the area.

Also, the cheersquad does a shitload of things behind the scenes that go regularly un-noticed. Those run-throughs don't make themselves & they generate hundreds of thousands of dollars towards the club through sponsorships each year. They run stalls on the family days, travel interstate and do various volunteer work around the club. Some of them get to each game at around 10am and don't leave until about 6pm because they're doing little things that need to be done.

So next time you want to accuse people of doing nothing, use either of your braincells before posting crap.

Oxxx - you bring up a VERY valid point. Instead of bagging the crap out of each other, we should be applauding the efforts of group like our cheersquad - a group of us Mums made a banner for our sons' under 9 finals last weekend and it is a huge task (about 1/10 of the size of the MFC banners too!)

The volunteers at family days, footy clinic days, etc, etc never cease to amaze me - they are doing it for zilch - all for the love of our club.

Let's call a ceasefire!

This isn't about what level of membership we all have as we are all in different financial situations and have different committments (mind you in this house the AFL memberships are priority number 1) Obviously the more money that gets pumped into the club the better so the higher levels of membership (redlegs etc) should be encouraged but we all know that people can only afford what they can afford. The most important thing is to encourage every supporter to be exactly that - a SUPPORTER actually needs to pump money into the club, otherwise you just barrack for the club.

We need to get the crowds back but it is a vicious circle - unless you are die hard fans like most of us posters here, you aren't going to want to go and watch the types of performances MFC have showed this year. We want our boys to come out fighting next year - bring on '08 and hopefully get the wins on the board early = bums on seats = profit = a great footy club. The wheels have really fallen off this year!!!!

Not only that deesrock, but i can afford a redlegs but my dad and I both don't like sitting up there and would prefer to be in the members area in the southern stand, so i always make sure that i buy the cheer squads raffles and such so i can still help out a bit more.

My apologies. You have made many valid points and i am ashamed of my comments.

Many peoplerely on the cheer squad to start things because if one in th cheer squad starts you all do. If one person on their own starts, you may get 2 or 3 going but thats it. Anytime you guys start up i join in as loud as my little voice will blast. I'm sorry for bagging you, and i appreciate all the work you do for the club behind the scenes.

Alright, let us all stop of this.

Simple fact - We all love the Mighty Dees!

I was just saying that we need more support - Especially at his time of year.

I never directed at the posters here @ demonland.

We're all in the same boat.

Let's have a win on Saturday night - I think we have a chance.

GO DEES!!!!!!

I'm gonna speak honestly, i haven't been to anywhere near as many as i would normally. I combination of each week as getting thumped and a heavier workload has has made me miss a fair amount of Melbourne (played) games. I'm also the first to admit that if we were going stronger this year, i would try everything in my power to get out of work this week and miss a 21st (which i'm coming to late because of work). I'm just not motivated by this year and it actually saddens me to see me write these words, cause usually i'm one of the most passionate supporters in my area. I will be there next week for Neitas 300th, that is a game i would not miss for the world, but beyond that i'll be taking it one week at a time as to whether i'll go.

(PS i am a member, will be next year, and the year after that etc)

Nice words but honestly, it's people like you that we have such a bad support base.

I don't care if we get beat by 200 points every week. I'll be there with my Melbourne polo & my scarf.

We need people to come to our matches. Even if it's just our home matches.

Next year, we need people like you to lift. It's not like we're going to be winning every game next year either.

I'm a MFC & MCC member & have been for years. I don't enjoy losing but I'm Red & Blue until the day I die.

You know what, i'm actually retracting my statement. I have been to 12 out of 18 games this year, including one interstate, i think i was being too hard on myself (or maybe i've blocked most of the matches out from memory!). I still think i would care more about changing commitments this week if we were doing well but i've gone to basically every single game i could this year. I have been though bad times at Melbourne, and always stuck by them, maybe you do think i'm lumped in with the others but i think i've given the MFC amazing support under the circumstances.

I don't enjoy losing but I'm Red & Blue until the day I die.

So am i, and i think most people here are too. (Though i think that's been established in this thread already)

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
