Hi all

I was just pondering the changes that will need to be made this week.

I'll assume that Bruce and Johnstone will be back and that Jace Bode will get a run.

As far as Robbo and Nieta go, assuming they'll play next season, i would rest them for the rest of the season.

My reason for this is that wemay as well get them right for next season and in the meantime we can play Miller at CHF, Newton and Holland out of the square, with Davey and Green swapping from FP to midfield.

Whilst we aren't going to win many games like this, i'd doubt we are going to win many if any for the rest of the season anyway. This way if we wanted to trade Miller we may actually get something for him, furthermore we'll get to see what Newton is made of.

Hence my chabges this week would be:

In: TJ, Bruce, Bode

Out: Nietz, Ward, Bate(Inj)

FB: BELL, Carroll, Wheatley

HB: Buckley, Ferguson, Brown

C : Johnstone, Mcdonald, Green

HF: Pickett, Miller, Bruce

FF: Holland, Newton, Davey

R : White, McLean, Jones

Inter: Godfrey, Moloney, Jamar, Bode

The reason why i would have Buckley playing half back is beacuse he needs to learn to chase an opponent and this may give him a kick up the a#$e! The dogs play with a small fwd line hence there isn't much need to play tall down back.

As far as ruck goes i'm not overly sure who to play. I assume PJ is injured if Jamar played this week. If Godders is not right then one of Dunn or Biz could replace him.

Play Chris Johnson, Paul Johnson, Lynden dunn, Jace Bode.

Paul Ross was spot on about Riely not playing enough youth. He's selections are really starting to fire me up.If we get done by 6 goals more then we would...who cares, it will be better for the side in the long run.

This is what I'd like to know.

From Sunday's team, how many youngsters who AREN'T in our best 22, were actually played?

Newton (would be borderline best 22 by now) and Buckley.

From the same team, how many senior players who aren't in our best 22 were played?

Ferguson, Brown, Holland, Godfrey, Ward, even Pickett would be on the cusp.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Holland played well, and Ferguson and Godfrey always give their all, but if we're serious about this 'youth policy', we should start playing kids who need the development time.

I don't consider Jones, Bate, Sylvia, Bell or McLean as being part of the youth policy, as all 5 are easily in our best 22.

We need to play guys like Dunn, CJ, Warnock, Bode. Would we be worse off with them in the side? No, we'll still lose each week, but at least we'll be gaining something in the long term.

Jones, Bate, Sylvia, Bell and Mclean are still seen as youth developing but yes they are recongnised in best 22.

But I strongly agree that players like Godfrey, Brown should not be in this 22, to be honest I don't think they should be in any 22.

Lets hope Frawley gets back so Fergie can go, Dunn should come in for brown, and CJ should come in for Godfrey, the fact Godfrey has not missed a single game this year screams why we are where we are on the ladder. Yes Warnock and Bode should play, I don't know who to take out, I think Pickett and Ward should stay in, perhaps drop Ward for Bode. Don't know who for Warnock.

Yes coz Goddy is the one to blame

He is my main example yes.

Wouldn't get a game anywhere else in the league. You def can't win a premiership with him the side. So yes, Goddy is to blame. P.S dont like Goddy.

Uninformed, untrue and unfair.

If you want to throw buckets have a look at that laissez fair 200 gamer in Pickett! And you want to give him another game.

We know what we get from Ferguson, Brown, Holland, Godfrey, Ward and Pickett.

If we're using the remainder of the year to "test" young players, then for heaven's sake, let's test them. Give Dunn, CJ, Garland, Warnock, Bode, PJ, Buckley and Newton every chance to confirm their ability one way or another. Geez, I'd even introduce Weetra and Neville, much like you might in the NAB Cup. At least Neville could say he played one AFL game.

Our finishing range can now only be 14th-15th ... I just can't see the point trying to save some honourable "face" by putting the same bunch of losers on the field every week.

Apologies if this has been raised elsewhere, but has anyone heard the reasoning behind not playing Jace Bode on Sunday? I was stunned that the club elevated him from the rookie list (I presume it still costs around $20,000 to do so), and despite the fact that we had two late withdrawals, ended up using our other two emergencies as replacements. If we were going to go to the expense and effort of bringing him onto the list, we might as well have played him for the final five games to get a better idea of whether to keep him on the list in 2008 or cut him adrift.

In: Bode, Dunn, Frawley, Garland, PJ, CJ, Johnstone

Out: Ward, Brown, Pickett, Ferguson, Jamar, Miller, Bate (injured)

The time has come to shove our young fringe players ahead of our fringe old players. the 'INS' are our future and will be on our list next season. 4-5 of the 'OUTS' will retire or be delisted at years end. To me (and Paul Roos) it seems a simple choice.

Only Riley seems to find it difficult. We are losing anyways, why not develop our young players? its almost as if he is trying not to get appointed next year. what is wrong with this guy?

Can caretaker coaches be sacked?

I'm shocked that Riley hasn't been given a similar instruction to the one Ratten has received.

"Play the kids, lose the game".

Surely, it's not that difficult.

maybe he ( Riley ) is worried the kids might actually put in an effort and upset that plan !!

Well at least someone seems to have the same questions and ponderings that we have......

Its just a shame that it is the opposition coach and not ours  !!!

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
