Watching ANB talking after the game just doesn't seem right in a crows jumper!

He said they took learnings out of the game

This result was expected right? Adelaide should have won & it's not like Carlton were ever 5 goals up in the 2nd half.

Pretty wild to think we could be third if we win, as well as:

Dogs beating Hawthorn

Collingwood beating Freo

Brisbane beating North.

I hope the players treat this game as seriously as us supporters are.

yes. I agree, not always the case or so it seems. And of course the supporters can do whatever they like on their side if the boundary fence,

Go Dee’s

Carlton fans are on a heap of copium right now.

Melbourne won the flag as a team ranked in the middle of the pack for “frees for”. Richmond from memory were similar, if not lower during their 3peat era. They were notorious for having a high number of frees against.

Currently, Geelong are ranked first for free kicks and have only won 2 games.

Stop blaming umpires you pack of losers. If you are good enough, you are good enough. Carlton are sh*t and fans who enable the ****ness with excuses after excuses after excuses are essentially excusing the performances.

I swear, they build their entire identity around umpiring performances.

What a sad representation of the Carlton cheer squad. Two floggers and a few small flags. I’m not bagging the cheer squad but the club surely could’ve done something to get more of them and their gear over there. Carlton is a large, wealthy club with many members, shame on them.

End of judgement. 🙃

Surprising Ghosty, Carlton are FULL of floggers!

Using the ARC for OOB…..The AFL should hang their heads in shame.

They need to stop paying these rubbish lasso out of bounds free kicks for incidental touches.

Unless it’s going to count as a stat, then it shouldn’t count for out of bounds frees. There is such a thing as a rushed behind, so there should also be a rushed out of bounds with no free kick.

The free kick paid against Haines was just BS.

To those in the know..

Is the Pepsi ad billboard behind the goals real or virtual.

Thanks

It’s a bit sad but it’s real – you only need a spare $155. Not sure what for.

I hope Freo tear the Filth a new one tonight!

I’m looking at this rain and I just know I’ll be sitting in it come Saturday, reminiscent of the *first gather round game vs Essendon. The result will be different this time.

*the solitary bright side to torrential rain is no one can tell you’re crying 😭

You’ll be fine, fine, Ghosty. The rain looked much worse on the TV – the stormwater problems were just caused by the tears of Carlton fans.

I don’t think Essendon have that many fans any more?

There’s no shortage of them in my neck of the woods. They breed like feral rabbits

Enjoyed last night's game.

Carlton played ok all game and lost.

I actually think Carlton played solidly save for the first 10 minutes of the second quarter. Adelaide are simply a better side (even more so at home). I was half expecting a flogging which fortunately did not eventuate.

The umpiring was bad and heavily favoured the Crows but they would have won in any event so it did not change the ultimate result.

Every loss means Voss won't be re-signed and improves the Blues draft hand so it is not necessarily a bad thing (adopting a longer term perspective). I just don't want to see the Blues cop a pounding.

I wrote this season off after the Richmond game (even if it was a win). The Michael Voss era is a bust, gave me about 12 months of excitement and a prelim final appearance but not much else. The draft, trade moves and the next coaching appointment is what will shape the Blues medium term future.

Perhaps it's a function room with one way windows like you see on some trams in Melbourne.

Will search it out but agree not a great precedent

Here's the search....

The Pepsi Collective is a premium, high-energy, behind-the-goal-posts fan experience at Adelaide Oval during AFL Gather Round, featuring bright blue branding, live DJs, and exclusive views. Located in the William Magarey Room (Riverbank Stand), it offers undercover seating and a dedicated bar.

I agree with Malinauskas. He is spot on.

Call 'Opening Round', Round 1. Have the Northern teams have their local derby for some guaranteed local interest, good crowd and media attention and the rest of the AFL can have its first round with no idiotic byes littering the first month or so of footy. Its not even complicated, just commonsense.

Easy to blame the coach, but you don't have the cattle. Carlton list has been over rated for years. Start by brokering a big trade deal with West Coast for Cripps

The list is not a top 4 list. But it is not a bottom 4 list either. The coach is most definitely underperforming and hasn't been able to steady the ship for the last 18 months. As much as I like Voss the legendary player and a genuinely good bloke he has always been a one dimensional coach who is only good at getting his team playing contested stoppage football. Was the wrong choice as coach, mistake made. It is what it is. Time for change and a reset.

I will be interested to see if your Rant stays up.

I don't agree or disagree totally but that's beside the point.

How good would it be to see Carlton get their second win against the Pies next week.

The Pies are definitely weaker than they have been in previous years, so it is no longer a fantasy. Lets see how they go against Freo tonight 🙏

A pies game is the next best thing to a Dees game, providing they are a chance to lose.

Freo travelling nicely atm.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
