The AFLPA and AFL were made aware so it appears that the relevant authorities have been notified. that's fair enough

So why the need to tell the story to that grub Morris to publish in his s*it rag newspaper. that's someone with an axe to grind not someone with the best interests of steven Mays partner in mind.

That's my gripe as well.

If they had issues with the club then raise the issue with the club leaders internally and deal with it in house instead of running straight to the media and out of all people, Tom Morris.

Whoever Morris spoke to needs to be spoken to.

Let’s hear the other side of the story

Morris is an ongoing problem for the MFC

newsbreaking journalist doing his job, you mean?

wait'll he lands at c7 mid year and his platform will be that much larger

You want to see one of the player's WAG's play VFL?

I disagree, Dazzle.

Without knowing the details of what was said, it sounds like a highly uncontrolled and unprofessional event with no means of really knowing who might be listening in. Can you imagine the ramifications if someone had recorded the conversation? And that's still a possibility.

Apparently no welfare people involved, getting sidetracked and divulging highly sensitive information about alleged dv. It's a balls-up!

Was Sachi Dade made aware of the call beforehand? Did she consent?

Sounds like someone needs to get their rrse kicked.

Even a low grade manager in most workplaces would know this rings alarm bells, let alone senior management of a very public football club

While I don't usually like club leaks, in this case it's probably necessary to pull a few heads in. One person's leaker is another person's legitimate whistle blower.

If this is true, maybe it's time up for Richo?

I think the club had good intentions of trying to keep people informed especially as there was some pretty wild media speculation regarding the situation.

Maybe the club thought they would get on the front foot for both players and wives as Sachi is friends with a lot of the players wives and girlfriends.

Clearly the way it was communicated may have breached confidentiality which in itself is an issue for the club.

But as I just said above, if a player of a partner had issue with this then raise it internally with the club leaders and deal with it internally instead of running straight to the media.

It is seriously concerning that as we speak, we still have people within the club leaking to these media sources.

There are always 2 sides to a story

Morris has reported only one,

I am sure Tom will thrive at Ch7. Their news gathering has been rubbish for years…

Regardless of the media reporting, the info was always going to get out. Only takes one person to talk. And it looks like there were plenty involved

If you're going to tell that many people, it acts like a press conference. Amateur hour again, when will the club ever learn?

King being involved is not good. It makes him part of it as well as Guerra & Richardson

Why would the club feel compelled to share sensitive information with 15 Wives & Girl friends. What were they thinking?

This is bizarre.

If this is how it all went down, the fact a CEO, football manager and senior coach thought this was appropriate is kinda mind blowing.

Beggars belief 'Macca'...

Notably, the article says, welfare staff weren't included in the conversation.

Reminds me of when the 'Posse' visited Goodwin at his home to sack him - amateurish. Do such a thing in a professional environment

There's a professional way to handle these sorts of matters and that doesn't include blabbering to the masses

I don't see why the partners needed to be told about private information involving another player and his partner

It's none of their business

i will say, I'm not sure how a whistleblower giving this story to the Herald Sun and drawing further attention to Steven May helps him, his partner and their daughter.

It wouldn't immediately but may form the basis for a civil suit?

As others have mentioned we haven't actually been made privy of what Richo and other club reps actually said on the call. If they stuck to what had been publicly reported and then added the club will take action/not sweep under the carpet I'm not sure they've done much wrong.

Time will tell

Sure, but there's this ...

"Disclosing delicate information in a forum of individuals with no contractual obligation to the club prompted a complaint to be made to the AFLPA, with the AFL then included in discussions at a high level.

Can we all just make sure we keep this information to ourselves?” Richardson said in the meeting at one point.

“The reason that this is a little bit unusual – I don’t think I’ve ever done this before – we’ve had issues with Clayton (Oliver) and the like. Is that this is involving a partner.”

A source present on the call said: “It raises serious questions about whether the club understands or respects even the most basic standards of privacy and duty of care.”

That's just scuttlebutt 😂

Yes I saw, but I don’t think it should take a welfare officer to know that this is venturing into very dicey territory.

‘SEN has chosen not to publish all of what was said, since some of the material is legally sensitive, personal, and unverified’

So Morris has the call or a transcript and they seemingly went into these legally sensitive, personal or unverified topics in the phone call.

Obviously a lack of faith in the club to behave professionally to the issue as evidenced by the dutch uncle management style.

It helps however, the next guy having issues, to decide whether to trust the club enough to be frank with their issues. I would say not at the moment.

[censored] hell.

Just when we thought we had turned a leaf on this [censored].

There may be mayo on it from the disaffected whistleblower but even then, how did anyone at the club not clock that sharing private information about sensitive, personal allegations was inappropriate?

Well-intentioned, sure, but not smart.

At least we appear to have acknowledged and apologised for it today.

Exactly, scuttlebut.

Club is damned if it is seen to ignore the issue & then damned if it brings it into the open.

Sounds like an FD overcorrecting after a period of time of “keeping the carpets full” but not a great sign that a player or a partner felt so aggrieved that they have ‘whistleblown’ on a senior FD official for revealing sensitive info on someone that now puts that person back in the news when they don’t need to be…

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
