You know what? 400 games and no charge and I'm actually ok with 1 get out of jail free card.

But if he does similar this week and onwards I expect him to cop it and not claim a clean record.

And Sidebottom doesn’t even get cited for his elbow, even though Bailey from lions got a week for his. So inconsistent and typical

Of course he is.

He was also just bracing his arm when he palm struck Neale directly in the abdomen. Good bloke though and totallllllyyyy different from a close fisted strike.

So Collingwood

I guess Pendles didn’t have to anticipate that contact could be possible and he should have acted differently unlike May last year.

Odd.

@BoBo I think it's very black and white (see what I did there)

Sidebottom was an arm thrown back to the stomach, while Bailey elbowed a guy lying on the ground in the head.

No inconsistency.

Username brownie making a literal black and white joke is very pleasing to me.

Gleeson is how shall I say it …. inconsistent when it comes to Collingwood vs everyone (Maynard )

Kozzie would have been sent to Siberia for that

I’m ok with Pendlebury getting off

I have serious reservations about gleesons independence

Good news fellow Demonlanders…

With the new rules applied, no Melbourne footballers will ever be suspended again!!!!

Since retirements and other troublemakers leaving our club, under King, we are a collective group of exemplary young men!

He should have been removed after the May decision last year. That was an absolute farce and like I probably obnoxiously went on and on about at the time, setting up metrics of what a ‘’’‘reasonable’’’’ player ‘should’ and ‘could’ do to determine guilt based on literally, which way a ball would bounce, resulting in a 3 match ban, means you could justify or disqualify anything.

I was trying to think of the other absolute howler and that was it

Thanks

Our prez should be winding up the jackals at HQ

If May was playing for Collingwood, they would have burned down AFL HQ. I have zero doubt about it.

Jeff Gleeson, the current Chair of the AFL Tribunal, is a 35-year member and coterie member of the Collingwood Magpies Football Club. That’s true.

He is BIASED.

The tribunal is a JOKE. 🤬

Maynard incident. Free to play

May incident. Suspension

Pendlebury. Free to play

It was off the ball, careless bump, high contact, medium impact. The ball was well away when he made contact. That deserved suspension, at least 1-2 weeks.

As we know with something like Kozzy bump on Moore, it’s 3 weeks instantly!!!

technically maynard WAS found guilty, but got off on appeal, no?

pendlebury WAS found guilty with the suspension downgraded to a fine due to exeptional circumstances, not least of all his exemplary record considering the affected player was not concussed and played on

BUT correlation /= causation

gleeson IS biased

the tribunal IS a joke

@whatwhat say what context was

The Tribunal found that May didn't intend to bump, but Gleeson said his actions were "unreasonable". The AFL Tribunal imposed a three-match ban.

Unreasonable ? By whose standards

Melbourne appealed the decision, arguing May was solely focused on winning the ball, but the appeal failed, and the three-match ban was upheld.

Pendlebury had no intention to play the ball. His intent was to physically bump the Crows player. He got it wrong. He made clear contact with the head (remember the AFL once said that the head was sacrosanct!!). Yet Pendles gets cleared of any suspension and gets a fine.

No rational person could ever equate the decisions the Tribunal makes, except to conclude there is bias and that explains the decisions being made. @Demonland

Totally agree. He's cashed in his "good guy" chips, if it happens again he can have a week off.

It should be extra time off, kind of like q suspended sentence.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
