Hahahahaha naughty

Situational training now with white attempting to hold a lead against blue on attack 2 (or now 1) goal down

i was wondering why the on ground scoreboard was out of whack.

and now its over... well, that was fun

Sparrow was terrific. His impact has always been solid but his production has increased. Could be a break out season as a genuine mid.

But how will we know who won????! 😭😜

The AFL system is really unfair for the kids who just miss out.

Plenty of blokes miss out only to get more determined to make it. Hopefully Ah-Mu is one of them

Bring Max, Kozzie and Rivers in and distill to our best 23 and we're not far off the mark. Many great signs.

whos these two casey boys, orange boots tall at HB and the athlete HF leading up with the tan

Orange boots eluded me but #13 Ranga replacement looked liked Lachlan Byrce.

Athletic flanker with tan fairly positive was Paddy Cross.

I spoke to a young dees player who said King is really encouraging players to play with freedom and show initiative - and in comparison to goody there's less focus on needing to adhere to set structures and players covering specific areas/zones on the ground.

I reckon that will really help Sparrow as he is a player that strictly adheres to instructions and i have little doubt that the roles goody asked him to play meant he had to sacrifice his own game.

Windsor looked terrific

tholstrup looked like a natural half back flanker and showed great defensive traits

ricky mentha could push for an early 1s gig

mihocek was quiet, good to see other key forwards stand up

Geez Ah Mh again with the impressive clunk

Worthy of SSP spot and getting a good 12 months conditioning into him?

Were they calling Van Rouen “rooter”?

if a list spot were to open up, would you rather have paddy cross or tairen ah mu? both look like great players

I think they are going to have to change it up... whites not competitive enough - not a great sign for depth.

Loads of inj a factor here mate, chill!

They can try. But they’re aren’t getting full time fitness, nutrition, skill coaching. And more than anything aren’t getting the full time, time!

I’d like to see a VFL squad of the best 20 who miss each year get extra training support and some kind of stipend to afford that extra time. On the provision that they still work or study at least part time too.

Good to hear

But he may just be a place holder for CJ and or Salem

potentially, but with how he played today he did his chances at half back no harm

He’s moving better a bit lighter and more confident, less fumbly. I still think there’s a limit to his IQ and skills that make him better used as a role player but given how light our midfield stocks are he’ll get chances.

The one flaw in his game that still irks me is his desire to always get back on his right side which often means going back in traffic. Especially from centre bounces and stoppages where there’s equal numbers and space. Just go forward and chuck it on your left if need be!

He has speed and power in a straight line, he doesn’t have elite agility, baulks or fends to be trying Petracca moves!

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
