Is this the 'hotspot' foot that he has trouble in the past with?

He is battling achillies issues.

They wouldnโ€™t inject a hot spot heโ€™d be in a moon boot and load managed

Achilles issues can be very debilitating and can linger for extended periods would not be surprised if JV is doing a lot of conditioning on the bike and/or in the pool

Jai Culley shrugs two tackles (losing his headband in the process) and is still able to get his handpass away.

May now doing some running on the boundary.

Thereโ€™s an elaborate tree mulch top up operation in action. A lot of pipe. Dude on the end isnโ€™t wearing a mask which concerns me.

Oath, wear masks guys. I nearly died a few years back with fungal pneumonia caused by chipping up old dead tree branches.

Lever looks to be completely over his ankle issues. Doesn't look hampered at all.

Riley Onley attempts an audacious grab in the centre of the ground to the gasps of the crowd. Doesn't quite nail his timing, but it looked great!

Viney is the last person I would worry about carrying an injury. Iโ€™ve seen him on crutches at the races and still play the following week.

Let alone all the times his shoulder pops out and he just pops it back in himself and keeps playing.

Look at Oscar Mcinernny in the 2024 prelim when his shoulder went. He missed the Grand Final the following week. Viney would missed about 2 minutes

He's not invincible mate..

He has a well known history of footy injuries and if anyone who has battled Achillies issues would know that he can be quiet debilitating and potentially career ending (not saying that will be the case) but there are many players over time who have had to retire early due to ongoing Achillies issues.

Quick fire handballs for one group of players. 2/3rds of the ground match sim for the others. Even numbers with a pink jumper going both ways.

Couple of very quick Latrell run down tackles. He wanted no part in a mark back with the flight with May bearing down but he was quickly back on the contest and pulled the Kossie ghost step where the defender had no read on where he was going before he lasered a kicked inside (which was intercepted but it was a good bad kick)

X Taylor got the pink jumper and looked sharp presenting and using the footy, then bit of more that he could chew trying to run through 2 tacklers which sapped him off energy.

Having a close look at new Taj in 40. He was out run for a loose ball by Sharp but then nearly chased him down. Then he just about took mark of the year. Missed a regulation handball to XL who cleaned it up, got it back to him on the run and his burst of speed opened it right up.

Hopefully we donโ€™t give him the Spargo treatment. Rush him back for round 1 and basically derail 2 years of his career.

Not a pleasant sight to see, Vines limping across from the rooms. And not just a slight limp, a prominent one. All good though, heโ€™s just had an injection in his foot so itโ€™s very tender. Heโ€™s here to support the boys.

Any idea when he'll be back into full training? At least game 1 is months away .

How do our new recruits look? Steele, CJ, Mihocek & Heath

CJ will be an exciting watch off half back. As long as he plays within his limitations (his disposal by hand looked a bit off today) I think he'll be a good pick up. Loved his evasive work in some of the tight contest drills today.

Honestly didn't notice Mihocek or Steele much.

Who is "new Taj"?! I thought maybe i got confused and wrongly thought Woewodin was delisted. But he was.

Thank you! I havent memorised the new numbers yet so saying number 40 draws a blank.

On the subject of numbers, how long does it take Champion data to update clubs to the new player profiles?

"Player profiles are updated by Champion Data and the AFL and cannot be edited by the Melbourne Football Club. 2026 Player Profiles will be available following the 2025 AFL Draft."
