That's because our time slot is 12:45, so not exactly prime time P

Ah the early leg of the double header that is no longer a double header.

It really does cut into the long lunch

Maybe not a double header given the times:

Correct not a double header.

They tried that the first time. It was a sell out but no one turned up for our game as Crows supporters IIRC were only interested in their own team

Not expecting any surprises in the fixture for next year. Very similar to 2025 I reckon

Good draw, footy wise and poor draw commercially. Maybe 1 thurs or fri game

Alice as usual. Gumba stadium as usual

The AFL have today confirmed the fixture for Gather Round 2026, with Melbourne set to take on Essendon on Saturday 11 April at 1.15pm local time.

The blockbuster match will be played at Adelaide Oval, and will be a rematch of the club’s 2025 clash.

😂😂😂😂 that's a disaster of a fixture. 3 people and their dog. Trac playing infront of another massive crowd

I know it's Essendon again but as we're the 'away' team and 95% of us won't be travelling for the game anyway does it really matter who we play?

We have now been on a pretty long run of almost always playing them only once a year and almost always 'away'. It reminds me of when we had a long run of playing Fitzroy in their home game at VFL Park instead of the Junction Oval. I only remember playing them once down there in my early years following the Dees.

Its almost like there's a conspiracy to stop essendon playing in an away jumper

If it's that grey one they're wearing again you can understand why.

Perfect for me! Public holiday so I get off retail part time work without wasting leave.

And where will we play Geelong?

I'm not religious, remind me, does Christian rise on easter sunday or will he die for his sins?

Do the afl do this on purpose to set us up for even lower crowds against interstate teams?

Gold Coast on Easter Sunday is a joke.

Yes because then they can say "oh you don't get crowds and no one watches you so we're going to put essendon on 11x prime time instead"

Haven’t played Essendon twice in a season since 2004, which AFAIK is the longest active such streak in the competition.

Really?

Two Victorian clubs , one big and the other big enough to ensure a 65k crowd at the G.

And we only play one a year for 2 decades?

That's bizarre.

it’s a bad time slot, better not to waste it on a big drawing opponent

yep. we generally have a similar fixture each year

Usually we play Carlton after we have played every other team at least once

Hopefully we only play essendon once. Another game where I don't have to see those feral fans.

If we played a bulldogs, saints or I don't know another team that's not from SA either, I'd go to Adelaide. But I'm not going there for an essendon game
