A lot of junior footy played between July and November not to mention the combine. Lots of players develop and bit later in the season. Just look at Robey’s late season form. Others don’t kick on from where they were were

I’d imagine all top recruiter list would change dramatically during that period. I’d also be shocked if any top recruiters list looked the same as each others as everybody sees it a bit different.

Twomey gets more right than wrong over a long period of time

Get's what right ? The first round ? Of course, he has great intel.

His Phantom Form Guides change as his intel changes.

The Coates League starts end of March. It finishes at the end of August. The reason ''form guides'' change between then and November isn't because of ''form''.

But look, if you think he has a great eye for talent, fantastic.

Would love for you to show me someone who gets it bang on after the first round, or even someone who gets the first round as correct as him

Who on the media do you think has a better eye for talent? I would like to know so I can follow their work.

edit. I just read the above comment. Same sentiment as me I think.

No-one's intel is as good as the bloke with the bad haircut. No-one.

I thought I made that clear. What am I missing here ? Hello ? Anyone there ?

I don't think anyone who earns a living in front of the camera necessarily has a great eye for talent. It's maybe why they're in the media. But maybe not.

Can you link me to any deep player analysis that Twomey's done on draft hopefuls ? You know, strengths, weaknesses, etc. ? In depth stuff ? I wouldn't have thought that's his forte, but maybe I've missed it.

He'll be pleased to know though that he has so many devotees. And look, maybe he's got a great eye for talent and I'm just being cynical that his form guide changes to the probable draft order the closer the draft gets.

Is Latrelle Pickett an upgrade to Mentha?

Not sure.

Pickett has the name and heritage, but has he done enough to justify being taken in the first round?

There's not a lot of footage of Latrelle on YouTube, but even in that he looks about 12 light years ahead of Mentha

We might need a new thread:

Who is THE draft GURU? Cal Twomey Vs Emma Quayle (might now work at GWS if I’m not mistaken?) Vs Knightmare Vs Shifter Sheehan Vs Who else?

It all began with Matt Burgan, didn't it?

I am the draft guru. I'd probably give the next best to Shifter.

I reckon @Ethan Tremblay is the guru of all guru’s, this includes draft guru.

That man knows all……….or so he says 😆

Please don't let this be over. The AFL should run the draft one pick a night for two months ...

His hair has been receding for years now and he does what he can with what he has. Is it really necessary to call it out?

Chris Cavanagh. Journalist. AFL football.

The Demons have done work on Aidan Schubert if he falls past Essendon. Don't think there's any chance of Sullivan Robey getting through that far, as much as he'd suit.

Sam Cumming is the name that kept coming up for Melbourne so I've got him at the Dees first selection and then Lachy Dovaston, so they’re the two.

Grlj is also in the mix for Melbourne but my mail is the Demons might not be as keen on Grlj as other clubs in that range.

Sharp is unlikely for Melbourne even if he does get past Essendon, but I wouldn't totally rule the Demons out.

Absolutely. I have zero issue with baldness. What I find amusing is a bloke of his age doing the ghastly shaved sides thing, which has nothing to do with any receding hairline.

If you felt compelled to reply, perhaps have a clue as to what you're replying to. The word "haircut" is the actual give away.

Such a precious generation.

The footy-mad draft prospect who has charged into top-10...

Jacob Farrow's life revolves around footy, and the WA draft prospect has charged into top-10 calculations

Agreed. Jacob Farrow is definitely in the mix. He’s got all the tools to be a long term AFL player. Good size. Excellent skills. Good attitude. Mobility. Smart. (Only negative from me is he’s from WA! Shouldn’t be scared off but it’s in the back of our mind given the go home factor).

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
