Bailey Humphrey deal unlikely to happen IMHO

Media only want their favourites to be good. Look how hard Mitch Cleary works for Geelong.

Their narratives are a joke.

Unfortunately Jefferson doesn't have the aggression needed to be a Afl forward, hasn't really done much at Vfl level to be honest, when has has got multiple goals it's always uncontested stuff that your not ganna get much off in the big time.

Did you watch the Brodie Mihocek highlights?

If the Suns tell Jed Walter we are planning to trade you as part of the Petracca trade. That certainly will make Jed think that the Suns do not value him. On that basis he would won't to leave i.e I want to get the f.ck out of here.

Is there any chance Jed Walter or Ethan Read get put up as alternatives for this trade if Humphreys stays...unless MFC are real dumb they will be insisting on a good player as part of the trade not just a couple of picks in a weak draft. My 100 year old Nonna could tell you that'd be a terrible deal!

Maybe we are not leaking for a change.

If we did in fact have 2nd meeting, which seems extremely likely.

Surely, we have said this is somewhat how it needs to happen.

Go back to GC, and be adamant you want out....not to Hawthorn, or Collingwood, but nominate us...we can give you more.

Kick up more of a fuss after you have meeting with them, saying you are homesick, and have been last few years(hence looking around last year too).

Gold Coast can then soften their stance and also know that he is key to getting Petracca over the line....especially when we say thanks but no thank you to picks 7 and 8.

I actually think Humphrey will be somewhat of a test case, as to what can be achieved through social media, when wanting to move. Expect to see lot more of this in future, which, pushed by manager and player.

Mihocek averages 4.6 marks per game 1.2 contested and nearly 2 goals... not comparing to Jeffo who is obviously still raw, but you can just tell he won't make it. He is less contested then Weed

For those stressing about picks 7 and 8 not being enough, just a reminder that Murphy Read was pick 17 and he looks like a heck of an AFL player.

Reasonably confident JT can get a couple of rippers at this section of the draft. Just because some of these players didn’t set the under 18’s alight and warrant top 5 billing, doesn’t mean they won’t be stars in the AFL. And the opposite is true as well (great junior, ordinary AFL player).

As others have mentioned, I highly doubt the Trac trade would be on the table if JT advised the club that he couldn’t get us the requisite talent we need from the draft to replace a club great.

Thanks for making my case. You did say “when he has got multiple goals it's always uncontested stuff that your not ganna get much off in the big time.”

The stats above show that 74% of Mihocek’s marks are uncontested. I would have thought that was a fair bit. So I’d say there is hope for Jeffo yet.

Just not seeing the value proposition in trading CP for picks unless we want to clear the books and handle the Oliver and Brayshaw shortfalls.

The money savings are nice but with Tasmania in 2027 having both draft picks and signing bonus money we will have difficulty attracting a 25 year old star at end of 2026 with the money.

No Oliver or CP will also hit the membership/attendance figures.

MFCSS is very much alive

We don’t need picks 7 & 8 unless we can trade them on for a player from another club. We have plenty of young talent coming through. Better fall back option is to trade Clarrie and keep Trac

Agreed. The smart and (to my mind) obvious move was to keep the dynamic goal kicking hybrid mid/fwd who accumulates Brownlow votes with a stack of score involvements per game.

And release the non goal kicking- non Brownlow voter midfielder who can’t or won’t adapt to other positions with prior off field troubles taking up a stack of the salary cap.

Is Trax really a goal kicker though?

His set shots are dodgy, high ball drop and over-kicks them.

Lots of his shots on the run are just hopeful blasts like his field-kicking.

For all his reputed professionalism he should have improved his kicking. Alas I prefer him passing them off to more reliable team mates.

Quickly addressing the Jefferson sidebar;

Jack Gunston just had his best season, kicking 77 goals at more than 3 per game, and operating at 7.7 score involvements per game, off just 0.6 contested marks and 4.4 contested possessions per game.

We need a contested target but not every tall forward has to be a 'power' target.

But... oh boy do we need at least one contested target to get their act together, and fast!

Would a Walter - Van Rooyen - Jefferson - Heath mix be viable?

Which brings it back to the Petracca thread, how valuable is Walter to us compared to Gold Coast?

That Mihocek fella goes alright

Yes we do. He doesn't want to be at the Dees, he's asked for a trade and nominated a club, and we want his enormous salary off our books.

Remember his words at the B&F - it's my job. He is a professional. Didn't want to be at Melbourne this season, but was professional in his application to his trade. If the trade doesn't happen he'll put his boots on and apply himself to the task of playing AFL at the MFC.

Pick 7 and 8 will blow out in a weak draft , top it off with the Petracca deal ,the Suns want pick 24.This would be pathetic if we accept any of it. What are the Suns going to give for JUH?

I am 99% sure Petracca is going to play in the red and blue next year.

I am not.

What Christian does or doesn’t do isn’t the point. It’s the negative impact that having someone who has asked to leave has on the other players. He doesn’t exactly bleed red and blue, and you get more of a sense of commitment, leadership and responsibility from Mihocek, who hasn’t even played a game. Mihocek isn’t just trotting out platitudes like “it’s my job”, he’s putting himself on the line.

But academic, Trac’s gone and the deal will be the best that we can manage under the circumstances, many of which are not in our favour.

This is where I get a bit conflicted. I agree with what you’re saying, but on the flip side, (this is the opposite side of the paying contracted players that leave the club coin), players have also signed contracts with clubs that they are required to fulfil. So if we don’t get to a stage that we feel like we have gotten a good deal… then he’s a contracted player and that’s kinda that.

That’s flattening dynamics a hellava lot I realise, but if the players are going to try and leave on contracts and do it in a ‘this is just the business’ sense, then conversely, that attitude/ethos also applies the opposite way.

He signed a massive, long term contract with us so that can’t only cut one way IMO.

I wonder who's feeding this to the media? Who has contacts at the biggest management company in the country?

We need someone feeding the media a narrative that suits our needs not someone else's.

Sure. Have you visited the Bailey Humphries thread? 85 pages of posters arguing the opposite, the basic premise being that Humphries can and should break his contract and come to us.

That thread is like… 50% gifs, haha. Who is seriously arguing BH should break his contract? Is anyone seriously arguing that? I’ve only skimmed that thread but the vast majority of people seem to be saying that BH should push his case harder to the suns that he wants a trade to vic for personal reasons.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
