Maybe I should retract this post.

Not at all! You can cheer for whomever you like.

I laughed when I saw him lace out King with the best kick he's ever done. King dropped it but the kick was perfect. Of course he turns into 21 Trac as soon as he leaves haha.

I'm with you @Golly123 . I'm going to miss him but his time with us was done. I bear him no ill will.

Simpleton.

Shots fired!

I must admit that ,although I bear him no ill will , I’m finding it actually difficult watching him play ( so well ) for GC .

Weird what structured skills coaching will do.

I’m convinced, really convinced that in his last couple years he lost interest, and knew he wanted out and gave significantly less effort and output, which would make Melbourne want to trade him and cash in.

I think he had a lot more than he was giving.

Spot on. It’s clear his morale was very poor at the MFC for the last couple of seasons. He didn’t want to be there, particularly after his serious injury.

we've cleaned house and moved on.

no point continuing with the self-flagellation

No it’s a huge loss for us. Petracca at his best is one the best players in the Competition. However, him staying at the MFC was increasingly untenable. He was very unhappy at the MFC for two seasons at least , especially after his serious injury. Therefore, there was no choice but to let him go . However, we are kidding ourselves if we believe that he’ll be easily replaceable or that his loss won’t be felt some time.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
