Whether people want to acknowledge it or not it needs to happen. And again whether people want to acknowledge it or not our team isn’t in that bad of a spot. It allows rivers to go in as a full time mid, kozzy more time in the middle, any of the young boys (leb, kolt, harves or even Lindsay) proper midfield time or better yet Humphrey if that does happen. Petty goes back or Jed gets a starting spot developing under Rick. It’s total reset. If we’re [censored] for a year or so, so be it we’ll be better for it.

The Saga/Soap Opera needs to come to an end

The team is there to play football and win games. We need everyone at the club on the same page and focussed

Agree the saga needs to stop but we need to hold the upper hand! Losing an A grader for picks whilst top 10s what are we going to get kids, throw in Oliver and it’s 400 games gone! Feeling we will come off 2nd best

We'll recover and later on, prosper

And there are ways and means in fitting future required players into the salary cap

It's why it's the best time (before Tassie) to head to the draft this year and next

By the time we have a need to pay the draftees better money as well as paying bigger contracts to Langford, Lindsay & Windsor et al, the money owed to Oliver & Brayshaw will be close to, or off the books

It’s looking like the game Petracca played was indeed the winning one, even if it took a little longer than he hoped.

I said this during the season, he wanted change at the club and it could not have come more emphatically than it has. Now, after nuking the place, he still leaves.

Says a fair bit about the character of the guy and his advisers.

I’m beginning to accept it will be 7 and 8 with pick swaps here and there for Petracca. I do feel we will need to go hard after Florent, Simpkin, Steele or Jiath as a more mature age player to replace lost players in our best 23. I wonder what the chances are we go to the Tigers and offer 7 and 8 for Pick 3 (which will likely get pushed back anyway) JT has had discussions with and likes Sullivan Robey so I’m wondering if we move up for that reason?

Does this mean we've told them to find their own d@mn pics for points for their acadamy kids? Hope so. Screenshot_20251013_192158_X.jpg

Don't the GCS have 2 highly rated academy kids this year? From memory they have more as well, but let's say they trade away 7 and 8 for Trac. What happens if WCE bite the bullet and go 1 of the GCS academy kids at pick 1? That would chew up a stack of points sending them way back in the draft wouldn't it? What happens if WCE follows up and goes bang on their next kid? Does that wipe them out and throw them into deficit next year? Assuming they match of course.

I love how we are getting written off already. Trac and Oliver are not our 2 best mids. Kozzie is number 1 and then Trac but Oliver is a shadow of his former self and I’d much rather Riv, Lindsay, Langford and Windsor

Just had it confirmed from the Suns side “the deal” will go through and Trac will be a suns player next year - I didn’t ask much more out of respect, even though I’m ****ty I didn’t! My gut feel was it will be picks in exchange.

That was my reading (or hope) into too

Can someone explain to me why it seems Carlton and Essendon will get multiple 1st rounders plus players for Curnow and Merrett respectively Yet they are saying we will get 2 1st rounders no players and have to give GC later pics back just to keep them happy ?

Isn't agreeing to trade petracca enough ?

All players want to leave their clubs , all 3 are contracted , all are stars , why are we seemingly going to get less ?

hopefully the Humphrey miracle happens !

The Swans' 2026 first round pick holds a lot less value as it'll be projected to be in the late teens

Seems like the value of Florent is pretty polarising too

Mind you, I'd be pretty happy with Florent, Hayward, 11, and F1. Blue's couldn't have done much better than that.

Trac and pick 24, 28 + +

In exchange for 7,8,15

Give them the pts they need

Get top picks in

Keep something up the sleeve for K White.

It’s been publically stated that Tigers will split pick 3 or 4 to get an extra 1st rounder next year.

eg we off Pick 8 and 2026 1st rounder for 3 & 2026 2nd rounder would get it done I reckon.

depends how hard the MFC want to go for Robey imo.

Merrett trade is even more up in the air than Trac's, so hard to say what they will get, or even if the trade will go through.

Just told we have a planned meeting with the Suns tomorrow to progress discussions towards formalities.

Merrett is a gun in the modern game and is at the peak of his power.

I think everyone believes Curnow could be the best KPF in the game again.

Few believe Trac could get back to his best.

You'd hope so!

I think it’s an acceptance on picks 7&8, for Trac & Spargo compo.

Hope so, we must retain 24

And on Wednesday, we trade all those picks back to them for Bailey Humphrey.

This is much better than I thought we’d get for him.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
