How good will he be this year? Looked on the verge of a breakout season last year if he's close to AA he will cost a boatload and we should absolutely pay up. Goal kicking mids are absolutely the most valuable asset in the game. If he has a so-so year then the negotiations will be a little less straightforward.

How hard is Humphrey going to make it for Gold Coast to hold him? He tried to get out last year but was pretty relaxed about it which made it easy for the Suns to shut it down.

Who else is in the market? I think at this stage we have a very good hand to satisfy the Gold Coast in a trade, and managers tend to want to deal with clubs that have the capital to get the deal over the line but if another club comes for him and can pony up, and Humphrey prefers that team then it's all over.

Draft would be my expectation. There is a big premium on Key Defenders as there aren't all that many good ones around. Teams have shown they are willing to pay quite a bit to get even an above-average key defender onto their list. We are fortunate Turner has become a gun but he needs help and Petty isn't the guy.

At a minimum Humphrey will cost our 2 first rounders and some steak knives and a mega contract. Personally I’d pay it as not only do we get a Tracc clone but he can hit a target…..absolutely invaluable. If we can play some good football at the back end of this season(or better still all season) then Humphrey rocks up we’re also putting up the sign that we’re back in business. Throw Caulfield in and we could just about pretend the rest of the world and its affairs aren’t even happening!

Currently a good player who impacts games and about to become a very good player.

Would be a good get to add to the first rounders we’ve picked up over the last few years.

I love Humphrey and would happily pay up for him, but we need to see how many holes we have on our list come October (key defender is looking like a real need at the moment and it never hurts to add another elite mid or promising tall forward)

I think we’ve got a really strong core of younger players which Humphrey could add to, but we need to be confident we’re not bringing him in at the expense of other areas of need

Negative or realistic? Not been much to cheer about last few years happy clapper

If Harry Petty stays fit this year, he is going to put a lot of you back in your boxes. We are well setup up with him, Turner and Lever for several more years. I’m not convinced about Adams so do concede we need more depth but it’s hardly our biggest issue.

We should be all in on Humphrey who (as a power mid-fwd) would complement our recent recruiting very well.
