With a list in dire need of another small forward, the Dove presents as an option...should we be able to get back into the first round of the draft

I don't love his ball use, but I like his game sense and agility from the tiny bit Ive seen.

If we could somehow get him and Rachelle for Trac, our forwardline would be transformed. Particularly with Mihocek too.

He played really well.

Exactly the type of small forward we need. Created chaos and just didn’t stop running causing pressure but also he’s ability to switch into attack mode once the ball spills. Definitely worth a crack. Reidy also very good.

He’s a smart small forward. Has the footy IQ to be a weapon. Lacks the speed of Nick Watson but is similar with his cheek, goal sense and shocking haircut !!! It’s a yes from me.

He looks like he lacks any major AFL attribute which is necessary for a 177cm player and particularly one expected to cost a top 30 investment. A no from me.

Pretty sure he came second in goals and had 80 tackles this season. Unsure if you watched him over the weekend but 24d 2.1 goals and 5 tackles and his pressure was really good. For a small forward I think he did what he’s meant to do well.

To be fair I have only seen the highlights packages. I just dont see that something special that a smaller players requires to make it at the next lebvel. Particularly with an inside 30 selection. in saying that finding the ball is half the battle.

He really stepped up yesterday and really turned it on for ranges and gave them some spark. He’ll go in the top 20 I reckon. Plenty to work with

ive been on him all year, tick for mine

Some of the criticism aimed at him above was similar to Chuck Spargo had - eg - average and not elite - not super quick

Dovaston has better goal sense that Spargo, who is more of a facilitator.

If you’re small you need pace or elite footskills. Dovaston has neither

I totally agree with this. It's why our obsession with recruiting players such as Henderson and Laurie, who have neither of these traits, is so infuriating.

Unless you are right in the premiership window, and we clearly aren't, high draft picks should be used exclusively on midfielders and key position players.

Crazy talk. Special small forwards are game changers and are worth spending high end picks on (not saying Dovaston is that)

Agree - and I think small forward is actually our largest position of need. Cupboard is alarmingly bare behind Kozzie.

Don't think Dovaston is the answer. Would prefer we looked at Rosas Jr.

and kozi isn't even a small forward these days

Agree - probably more risk but also probably higher ceiling

It's been one of our big issues. Outside of Kozzy and Fritta we have lacked game changing forwards. It's why we went hard for Watson and we should keep going hard for his type.
