Was at a gig in the inner north tonight (did catch the first 2 quarters in a pub) and am on a train home, we just picked up footy fans at Richmond and plenty of dejected Dingley Hawks fans, enjoying their glumness 😁 Just need the Lions to win tomorrow!!

Not sure if I misread it but this is the first time Geelong has beaten Hawthorn in a knockout (sudden death) final since 1963. That’s nuts

He'll get a reality check when he comes to us. He'll go from dangerfield, Cameron & blicavs to sparrow, Sharpe & van rooyen.

Trac and Oliver are just as good as danger and Gawn is significantly better than biclavs. King should be salivating at this

The Cats are just soooooo good as an organisation.

Do you know what the expression ‘Sour grapes’ means? I don’t see how it applies here.

1 I appreciate what Geelong have been able to do, if you supported them you would have been pretty happy!

2 You then suggested why don't I join them, um yeah right, read statement 1

3 I suggested you are displaying a sour grapes attitude to Geelongs win AND you inferincing salary cap yadda yadda REEKS of rumour and inuendo.

4 Yes I DO know what sour grapes are, so Ghosty I hope you followed my recommendations. Now I hope I have explained procedings and thought processes clearly and by the way...

Cracking win by the Cats last night do you not agree???

I think you need this:

sour grapes | ˌsaʊə ˈɡreɪps | used to refer to an attitude in which someone adopts a negative attitude to something because they cannot have it themselves [with allusion to Aesop's fable The Fox and the Grapes]

If GW had said that all that Geelong success was not worth having (because we cab't have it), then sour grapes might apply. But where has she ever said that?

Dead Kennedys at the Northcote Theatre. Was a huge DKs fan in the late HS and early uni years.

Tracc in a 2021 mindset can certainly do what Danger did last night. The big question is whether he will have that hunger again with the MFC.

Sour grapes in her inference of the way the cats have manipulated the system, thats sour grapes in my book Sue!

No Jello, No DK’s!

How’d you find the Northcote Theatre? I find the stage too small, but it might have been great for a sweaty punk gig.

The Royal Hotel in Punt Road was always a good spot to keep abreast of events across the road at the MCG.

I see what you did there

It’s actually 140 million in total In redevelopment over 10 years+ unfortunately state gvt chasing votes and the cats have benefited greatly! Yet they couldn’t get us a plot of land to build a home base for a club that bears the name of the city!

Being smack bang in the middle of some of the most marginal electorates, both state and federal, has been great for them.

Plus with the insane growth in the corridors to the south and west have meant my four year old could fill in a grant application and they’d get funding.

Sorry, PF. You need a new book and a read of Aesop's fable of the fox who declares the grapes must be sour because he can't reach them. You can say GW is being bitter and twisted and indulging in conspiracy theories, but she is not saying she wouldn't like Geelong's success because having failed to achieve the same, she dismisses it's worth.

Ah Sue...Spoken like a true Ghosty acolyte, there must be some benefit to it, but problem is... I can't see it!

Wasn't there at either, but sat through loosing GFs in 88 and 2000.  Just give me that premiership at the G and I'd be complete in a footy sense.

Yes, not the same without Jello but they still put on a good show with East Bay Ray and Klaus Flouride from the original lineup.

First time at the Northcote Theatre, I like the venue, has character & charm and is fine for a 4 piece band but the stage might be a tad small for some other bands.

Gary Lyon barred-up after his goal. Said he'd now legit earned the right to be called the wizard. Have never taken him seriously as a footy analyst. This just confirmed it.

Back to tonight, I want Brisvegas to Seeeermmmash toothless ferals!

Mannequin Death Squad. Was keen to catch them but watched the footy at The Peacock next door (until HT) and when I turned up to the gig they already finished (must have been a short set).

  • AFLW REPORT: West Coast

Melbourne’s response to last week’s heartbreak was emphatic, as the Demons delivered a statement win over West Coast at a windswept Casey Fields. All of the pre-match hype surrounded the coach’s box matchup of Mick Stinear up against his apprentice, Daisy Pearce along with the gloomy weather forecast. In the end, it was less about tactical chess and more about Melbourne’s relentless execution. With rain looming, the DeeArmy and early birds snapped up the best undercover viewing spots.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: West Coast

Epic battle alert.  This Sunday, Casey Fields hosts a coach’s showdown pitting the wits of the master Mick Stinear (92 games, 71.7% win rate) against his protégé Daisy Pearce (16 games, 43.8%). Still early in her coaching journey, Daisy’s record doesn’t yet reflect her impact — but she’s already the best-performed coach at West Coast.Dais’ is mythic.  Like Katniss Everdeen, everyone either wants to kiss her, kill her (sporting metaphor) or be her.  Toothers Daisy Pearce is a role model, someone admired for their heart, humility and humour.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.
