We’re still stuck on 38 senior flags.

We did not play well at all in the first half. 6.3 to 1.7, then we played some scintillating footy and got 8 points up during the third, before getting well beaten in the 4th to go down by 11 points (against Foster of all [censored] teams). It still hurts 😩😩😩.

Leongatha are building a nice dynasty atm, 3 of the last 4 flags in Gippy League.

Just the 38? Haha

I'm a boolarra person. We won the under 17s netball. Wooo!

I know you guys read and scroll through a lot of innuendo but trust me, this is on the money. Club is also aware of who the mole is in the club also and this is being dealt with next week. A sacking will occur shortly but won't be made out to be a sacking to protect the person's future involvement at club land

To hell with that, they should be hanged, drawn and quartered

So about Chaplin's departure...

First thing I thought of when I saw he might be moving on.

Richo would have known about King's appointment which was crucially not leaked.

That is true. But perhaps he knew he’d be too easily found if he leaked about King?

Like I said the vibes but no solid proof at all.

Edit: Richo was in the meeting with Clarry yesterday. Chaplin was not.

Yeah could be anyone. I've got no idea either. Been a genuine blight on the club for the past two years whoever it is so really hope they get moved on soon.

My guess is Richo. But I’m purely guessing. I have no confirmed intel.

Call it a gut feel.

Was Chaplin in the meeting where Goody was sacked that was then leaked to the media almost immediately? Pretty sure he wasn't...

Definitely not. Nor was he in the meeting with Clarry yesterday.

The Goodwin news was being disseminated through the club for twelve hours before it was leaked.

I think he’s talking about the details that ended in the media re: the meeting in Goody’s kitchen and what transpired.

It’s not when it leaked, just the fact that intimate details got into the media. Could only be from one of the people in the room. Surely.

Chaplin?

Is anyone running a betting market on who the leaker will turn out to be? I mean the speed at which some of the stories got out with intimate detail suggests the person was almost typing the sms during the meetings

While I really have NFI, wouldn't Gold Coast get what they want with some second rounders (like our 23 etc)? Where's a points nerd when you need one? @old55

It's complicated. The new points system has definitely made it harder to match bids with rubbish picks.

The draft change adding another element to upcoming trade...

Cal Twomey takes a look at how changes to the points model could impact this year's Trade Period

GC have some very highly rated Academy players, Twomey's rating 2 - Uwland, 4 - Patterson and then 26 - Addinsall. Of course these players tend to get bid a little later than they are rated.

GC have enough points with picks 6, 13 and 16 to cover bids at the positions above but they do need them or equivalent value picks. They can't just trade 6 away.

Of course they have players up for trade: Flanders, Rosas, Fiorini, Budarick and now maybe Ainsworth who will provide points and that will make a big difference.

Our pick 23 and 24 or 37 from Spargo are pretty small beer in the equation.

It's hard to be definitive, all those players going out should nett enough points to allow them to trade say Flanders + 6 to us and maybe they'd like 23 back. IMO Humphrey is a straight swap for Petracca that if available we should take and run. Humphrey + Flanders to us would need Petracca + 12 (from GWS for Clarrie) IMO.

Yeah, I said what I said - Petracca and Oliver for Humphrey and Flanders.

Yeah, I said what I said - Petracca and Oliver for Humphrey and Flanders.

Yep, I floated that hypothetical this morning and I just reposted it in another thread:

Melbourne give: Petracca, Oliver, Pick 24.

Melbourne get: Humphrey, Flanders

Gold Coast give: Humphrey, Flanders

Gold Coast get: Petracca, Pick 12

GWS give: Pick 12

GWS get: Oliver, Pick 24

I could stomach that... and no team really loses

Something like this possibly? We have said we want players, not picks. I think we are also looking to dump salary, so we need to give some incentive to other clubs to let us do this. Oliver's destination may be Adelaide rather than GWS, in which case Pick 12 becomes Pick 14. Pretty much same deal though.

Nah - we should trade up from pick 14 to pick 12. We could snag someone like - - - oh I dunno . . . Tholstrup.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
