It would be interesting to see the performance statistics of the saints midfield this year - admittedly he has a couple of gems in harvey, hayes, etc but montagna has continued his improvement too...

I was at a corporate lunch with the st.kilda coaching panel and rocky was the most impressive of all of them including lyon, barker and silvagni.

Whoever the club goes with and the list continues to grow will be the best.. we have to get the best without doubt, now that Daniher has gone and the search can start so quickly!!

One interpretation is that Ratten is saying "I'm ready for the Carlton job" without actually stabbing his boss Denis in the back.

Agree. This will only add further pressure to Pagan and his position. More smoke & mirrors at the Blues.

Agree. I don't understand all the excitement about Ratten. Our midfield performance in the year of the Rat does not warrant the accolades flying around here. Then he bolted off to coach in the burbs for a year (huge career move). He needs to be somewhere more than a year and get some runs on the board. He's way down the list for me.

At least Ratten's got a head that looks like Premiership Cup.

Now that's the kind of post that brings me back to this board

FWIW I reckon we should take a close look at Ratten - he's high on my list of candidates

As for Connolly - God help us - he has to bring Pavlich with him or there's no deal!

The inside knowledge is that there isn't 1 person employed at the club who knows who will coach us next year.

But Gardner has a favourite in mind...

And the club is employing a sub committe and sourcing 3rd party input as part of the selection process. Surely Connollys odds can't get any shorter.

I sent an email to Gardner stating that we must get Ratten

I gave him reasons as to why we should get him, and why the other guys (Connolly, Voss, mckenna etc.) are the wrong way to go

Brett Ratten is the man I want. I have been a Melbourne member for a long time, I hope the club makes the right desicion for once

Apropos.........

Lyon to have say on new coach

If Gardner has it set in his mind who next year's coach is with 9 games still left to go this year, unless the choice is to give Mark Riley a few full years then he shouldn't be running this football club.

If its Choko Williams from Port, i'd forgive him.

Did I say that?

I said he has a favourite in mind, just like the rest of us, but that does not mean the club will put a stop to the process. They will interview everyone and anyone and a whole host of people will come to a decision.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
