Sorry, but all this praise is nonsensical for a team which has just suffered one of the most humiliating and shameful collapses in the history of Australian rules football, against a dud team at that.

My three-word summary would not be printable.

McVee - really poor again

If he keeps up these performances, I would be ok with his move, which is sad because he was a jet for us. He’s lost himself in this horrible season.

Not the only one

Even at our worst under Neeld and maybe I'm crazy but I still watched. To see a side in comprehensive control just crash and have no answers, energy or leadership yet again is pretty hard to stomach.

One or two steady ship goals would have been enough to dent their energy...

Yes you can probably tell I'm angry

Tracca and Oliver were pretty good yesterday. Well Tracca was.

Except CP showed his significant problems with kicking goals. Again. They both did and they cost us the game with their inaccuracy once again.

Tracc is probably one of the worst in the comp.

Certainly at the MFC.

It's is a shocking part of his game and ai feel because of this he is overated.

Imagine if he could finish all his good work off and score more frequently. Oliver isn't great either.

This led me to looking at most of our players in this area.

I was shocked to discover that Oliver only manages an average of only one goal every five games he plays.

That's pretty damning. Yes despite both dropping in form the last couple of years .....these two have been prolific ball winners.

But kicking goals is important for midfielders and these two have struggled big time.

Max struggles too. As do quite a few other non fwds.

This all means extra pressure for our fwds to kick more goals. And they have been struggling for a long time doing this.

In 2021 we had a plethora of players kicking over 20 goals for the season. Including smalls like Spargo and Anb.

Now our leading forwards are struggling to manage over 20 for the year.

Doesn't matter how good our backline is, if we don't kick goals we don't win.

So as bad as it is with our failing fwd line in the last few years it's been made worse by all our other non fwds not contributing.

And when they do...they usually miss.

Then we have the issue of Petty. He's our tallest forward and has had the job for a full two years.

He averages under a goal a game or under 20 a year. He's our best tall forward.

That alone reveals a lot.

How are you going to win games when your best tall fwd can hardly manage to get on the Coleman board.

And that position call has been well and truly driven by Goody

I have no idea why he's been hell bent on playing him there but it's now almost comical except we now hold yesterdays embarrassing record.

Something I hope brings about Goody s exit from the club

But that would involve someone having to make a decision so it probably won't happen.

He'll probably be there next year when we hobble together another six or seven wins and then the club decides to do something about the membership drop off and complaining from supporters.

But that will be three years too many. With too much damage and exodus of good players.

Well for me if Goody is there next year the club won't get a cent from me and not will I go to any games.

I know that doesn't help but I can't support the club in any fashion with SG at the helm.

I can be as stubborn as him.

It's a shame he won't resign and will eventually be sacked. I would like to hear about his learnings in his sacking press conference.

Anyway, we lost to St kilda in Nt not long ago due to laziness and terrible kicking.

Yesterday while our kicking was better we still missed too many easy shots. As mentioned by Oliver and Tracc missing two absolute sodas that would have sealed it.

And Petty kicked zero goals once again. And laid two whole tackles. Compare that to Viney who kicked a goal and managed to lay 17 tackles.

Petty garnished his usual tally of five disposals but I guarantee you, he will line up again next week. Same with players like Sparrow.

But with Petty being given chance after chance for two whole years just doesn't add up. What's going on?

Why is Goody so stubborn about all this and call the experiment dead. In fact it died 18 months ago and will not be resurrected.

How can I support the club when this keeps going on?

I can't. And I have a feeling I'm certainly not alone in feeling this way. I just hope that we all join together and send the club a message by not going to games and not taking out new memberships. Unfortunately it's up to those who care the most. And yes it will be tough but it will definitely be for the best.

SG is not the coach to lead this club anymore. Our lack of fwds, our playing blokes out of position, failure to make changes during games....like when the Saints kicked three in a row, gifting games continuously and failure to fix our goal kicking is just way too much for way too long.

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
