For health and legal reasons the AFL may now have no option but to introduce a no defence rule.

Start off with 3 weeks and work up from there.

Unfair, now yes but after a while risky bumps will become less common.

I personally love the message from Rivers. What I dislike is Channel 7 labelling it a ‘hit’. The AFL went as far as to say it wasn’t a hit or bump.

I want a few players to pull up and not go for the ball in coming matches.

Then I would love to see the reaction of the footy world.

Justin McInerny is sanctioned for nudging an opponent into the fence.

Brayden Maynard forcefully shoves an opponent into the dugout - not mentioned.

"Knees" Moore slides, knees out, into an opponent on the ground - not mentioned.

Even if there is no conflict of interest, there needs to be seen to be no conflict of interest.

This decision just adds to my disillusion with the AFL. I'll never stop loving The Dees and I'll still go to our games but I'm pretty much done with the AFL as a whole.

Local footy is so much better on so many levels.

Players these days don't have the same sense of self protection as10,20 30+years ago. The rules have taken out the bump which often was about protecting yourself as much hurting your opponent. This collision 10 years ago doesn't happen - both players most likely turn a little sideways to brace for contact instead of May running straight on and Evans leading with his face. Neither player gets hurt.

I have taught my 12 year old son to protect himself in the contest. Its really the only way to stop yourself from being injured like Evans was.

AFL rules, MRO, the tribunal system are to blame for his injuries and head office needs to be held accountable. Being officiating in the manner they have for the past 5-10 years they have completely changed the way it gets played so people lead with their head into contests. I can't stand seeing this. Players need to be able to protect themselves first and foremost

If there is anyone in the footy world that doesn't think the Tribunal are absolute raving idi-ts, here is another brilliant finding of theirs tonight.

"The tribunal said he should have been thinking about what would happen if he didn’t get there first."

Yes of course, in the .056 of a second everyone agreed, is all he had to avoid a "possible collision," with someone coming from his side.
