In our case I am under the impression the draft decision making is Jason Taylor's research and preparation 80%, Goody for immediate needs 19% and Ghostwriter for vibes 1%.

Paul Roos did, probably why we got the players that drove our premiership.

Out of curiosity, when you say there hasnt been a single draft bust between 2016-2020, what exactly are you referring too? First round picks? second round?

We had a good run no doubt, but no draft busts? hardly. 2016 was all busts except Mitch Hannan who played 50 games before delisting. I do agree it was a good run 2017 onwards but we still had busts such as Rossman, Nietschke, Kyle Dunkley. It was great recruiting.

It really helps to get quality when you have top 10 picks at your disposal, which all of Trac, Salem, Clarry and Gus were. Roos had excellent picks at his disposal because he came into a club which sucked [censored] and also got priority picks and a top pick for Frawley's departure as a free agent.

It's why taking 2 good quality picks to the draft in 2024 and 2025 has been so important. Windsor, Kolt, Lindsay and Langford may well be the next bang bang bang brigade.

Turner and McVee off the rookie and mid-season drafts have been a total score, and if we can get Jefferson and Adams to make it, that's basically an entire spine and midfield drafted post a flag. That's a very very good effort in a short time period. And yes, I know that's a big if.

Jason Taylor is amazing at drafting mids and smalls, but his hit rate on talls has been only so so.

I know you are in love with Goodwin but list management between Roos era and Goodwin era are poles apart.

I hope this kid makes it however, personally, I have not seen a lot in the few games he has so far played that he has to build on. He seems to me to be more concerned with promoting his image of being a league footballer than working hard and producing the skills required.

I concede that he is still young and may require a few more preseasons to fully develop but to my mind he is in danger of becoming a hologram….. all image and no substance.

Just adding to this that Goodwin joined us in 2014 as the "senior assistant" anointed to take over from Roos, and thus would have had just as much input into 2014 and 2015...

Subbed out at the start of the 3rd would’ve been crushing for the kid. Unfortunately he just doesn’t have it.

Feel a little for Tholstrup. Not sure if he's up to it, but doesn't appear to have a clear role. Maybe play him as an out and out tagger.

Spend the rest of the year playing midfield at VFL level.

I was all for gifting him games but hes no way near AFL standard.
