Its a gov job! He could have left if he wanted to. He is not the CEO of BHP or even a private company. He is certainly replacable. Next drone up! It's ridiculous. He is ticking his own career box at expense of the club.

Please provide an example of another FADG/ADG/DepSec/Sec etc. who provides one months notice then moves on?

You honestly have zero clue what you’re talking about. What you suggest happens at the Band 1 or 2 level, doesn’t even occur at SES level.

Genuinely unsure if you’re just trolling, or have no context of anything in Government or private practice.

Because I’ll tell you, after having worked across both the public and private sector, no one moves into a new role after a 4 week notice period. You’d struggle to come across that at even an APS4 level or as a junior associate.

Rubbish. He could have started before September with gratitude.

Right. Unable to provide any real world examples, but sticking to the notion that merely saying something makes it so.

Droll, but apt.

No. What is ridiculous is that we dont have a CEO on thre ground when all this MFC Home base is falling apart. To make it worse he has to be at the Chamber of Commerce for a "Gathering" in 3 months time after appointment.

What if in the unfortunate event he passed away. Would the World Chambers Congress in September not go ahead?

He should be behind the desk.

Wizard of Koz, if that is your real name, what makes you think our home base plan is falling apart?

Oh you've got me. Yes my real name is not :"Wizard of Koz" .

In regards to Caulfield it would be great to have some clarity and green light. Maybe not falling apart but still not locked in.

To whoever challenged me to show some real life examples of people leaving gov jobs with 4 weeks notice I really am not going to go internetting for this. I have seen it many times.

Not sure why the know it alls are so uptight. It's weird.

He heard it was announced that he’s starting in September.

Which will be a very quiet time footy wise. 😡😩😢

So if you're correct why was this language used in the Club announcement: "Paul will hit the ground running and Members will have opportunities to hear directly from him very soon."

We/he didn't check?

What’s your context and question? I’m clearly not following what your statement and question has to do with my comment.

In what world, does a person in a position as CEO, regularly start after a month?

Bizarre.

“Yeah, I’ll just hand in my four weeks notice. See you in a month, boys!”

Greg Swann starting at the AFL 21 July after announcement of appointment earlier this month. AFL would not want one of their star attractions in the frontier State of Queensland to sag, and appropriate succession plan looks to be in place up there.

Meanwhile, our administration lacks urgency when there are significant challenges and opportunities afoot. Those opportunities need to be seized, and challenges addressed by a dynamic, settled administration.

Govt jobs have contracts too.

But what a stuff up. Fancy hiring a new CEO during the season, having taken 6 months to hire a new one, and the new guy can't start for another 6 months.

And if he was a fantastic appointment, would you wait a few months, or rather lose him and appoint a lesser person who could start right away?

How did he present when you interviewed him?

From Caro's reporting he was the lead candidate and had the job.

What a fuss about nothing in this thread. I bet if the team was winning this thread wouldn't have even appeared.

Settle down. I see. Still a ridiculous situation. Delete your own thread Karen.

Starts a thread demanding to see management.

Did he turn us down?

Do a bit of googling with Caroline Wilson. He was strongly favoured by AFL HQ too. Just as Peter Jackson was back in the day.

Instead we got a guy with no footy background at all.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
