100% i was wrapt like any other Melbourne supporter without the knowledge that he was leading this footy club to a merry dance with his [censored] off field behaviour.

My recollection is that the off-field behaviour only spiralled in 2023 with his first long-term injury. There was also talk that he was struggling with a relationship breakup, and that plus the injury pushed him into a not great place.

I dont actually don't claim to know anything unless i go off facts which i have done.

What I dont do is guesswork like you have made out with the whole Petracca being toxic (clearly made that up) and our board now offering contracts to players to which you still haven't provided any evidence or confirmation of things actually happening.. but sure, you just keep on guessing away.

Met with Teague at the end of 2020 season in which he was still contracted under and at the time of probably not knowing where success was coming.

He signed his monster deal in mid 2022 when he was already contracted for another 18 months and off the back of a premiership and probably 10 game winning streak. There is absolutely no way he was EVER going to entertain any offers by then.

I agree he was never going anywhere. I still laugh about Sam McClure smug face reporting the meeting and not realise Carlton were being used for contract negotiations leverage haha

But what I’ll stand by strongly is 17/17 other clubs would have signed Clayton Oliver at the same time we did to the same or a bigger deal given the opportunity. Yes the contract looks bad but everyone understood back then.

I don’t like huge contracts anyways, I think anything beyond 5 years is irresponsible from a club perspective but the way the market works now they have no real choice

Agree about McClure and we have seen so many times how blatantly wrong he is over the journey.

I honestly dont mind the bigger contracts, I suppose in a way it gives that club leverage in case they do request a trade eg Carlton with Curnow, Melbourne with Petracca... I think with TPP going up again these longer contracts will just end up being the norm in think. Wouldn't be surprised if we start to see 9 years deals somewhere along the way.

I do agree with you as well i that I think 5 years is a good enough starting point with the trigger for a six.

I know he broke up with his partner Soph in early 2022 but going off what Goodwin and Pert said, his off field behaviour was still an issue when he signed his long term deal.

What’s changed (with May) between being asked to find another club and now we’re saying we expect him to stay?

Expected suitors not coming forward.

Which only goes to confirm the club's position in wanting him gone. How the mighty have fallen. (sadly)

Doesn't help if you can't pass a physical .

I still think north Melbourne will come late for Steven may.

I think Roos will come late, ask us to pay a bit and we get a nothing pick.

You're missing my point once again. I have zero issues with long term contracts.

But why give a dude thats completely off the rails a 7 year contract 🤣 literally setting him up to fail not succeed.

Honestly, give him a 3 year deal if you have too with some behavioural clauses included.

Petracca deserved his because not only did he live up to the expectations and perform but he has been an absolute professional all the way to the end as we speak. I hate the thought of losing him but have accepted that its probably best for both parties.

I wonder whether the club thought at the time that giving Oliver a 7-year contract would help him cope with his off-field issues by removing the stress which comes with a player having to keep thinking about his future when on a shorter contract?

Lamb is most definitely in the hot seat this trade period. His position at the club will be untenable if he doesn't make the most of the Petracca trade.

Lamb has traded peanuts for peanuts recently and in the meantime we've gone to the draft with multiple first round picks. Yeah his speculative trades amounted to nothing, but cost nothing.

Those picks cost Jackson, a bunch of second rounders and our first rounder this draft.

What's a realistic trade for Petracca in your opinion?

Lets keep Humphrey out of the picture for now.

You love to pretend like you know everything so let’s go with your version of events at whatever point in time it suits you

King of the flip flops. And Clarry was the best player in the competition at the time.

Why don't we rename this thread The Tim Lamb is s h i t thread for all the Eeyores?

Nah mate, I think the club is introducing a new membership category.."The Supporters Who Aren't Supporters". I believe foundation memberships will be offered to the sparkly one and the cricket oval

I also have posters of Kane Cornes on my wall.

It's a myth that this is a weak draft. My understanding is that the issues with it are a) there's perhaps not the real standout talent compared to previous years and b) it's compromised by academy and father/son picks. But there are still plenty of good draftees in the first couple of rounds.

Let's not forget that this year's Rising Star was taken at Pick 17.

Yeah everyone is wrong. Reid would be a top 3 pick this year.

Ha.. cute.

I'm sorry I dont bow down to Tim Lambs level of mediocrity like you and your other buddy do.

With the likely 💔Trac and Oliver trade departures (and with May likely now to stay) here’s the list segmented into likely positional structures. Of course, players are flexible and can shift like Rivers to running mid or Laurie to small forward.

I’ve add Mihocek. Hopefully we can get Max Heath onboard too

For me, the need for skilled running midfielders will be the primary draft priority

MFC TEAM update

key defenders: May, Tmcd, Adams

tall defenders: Lever, D.Turner, Howes

med/sml/running defenders: Rivers, Bowey, Salem, Lindsay, AMW

inside Mids: Viney, Langford , Laurie

outside Mids: Langdon, Windsor, Woey jnr

Mid/fwd: Kozzzy, Kolt, Sparrow, Culley

key forwards: Mihocek , JVR, Petty, Jefferson , Kentfield, Johnson

med-tall forwards: Fritsch, Melksham, Mcadam

small forwards: Chandler, Sharp, Henderson, Mentha

Rucks: Gawn,  Campbell
