That was 1 of about 10 behind the plays from Matthews. He was and probably still is 1 sick puppy.

Saw Matthews get ko’d a couple of times but no where near enough.

I don’t think keeping prying eyes out is the only reason.

If spectators were allowed in there would likely be insurance issues, eg. what would happen if a spectator was injured while on the grounds (which aren’t public)? The toilets would have to be cleaned, rubbish removed etc. And, when it is open to the public, security is present, so that must be a condition 🤷‍♀️

By my reckoning we must have a few new injuries, illness or management for Monday's game.

13 AFL listed players played for Casey tonight and with Viney, Spargo and AJ out, that leaves 27 to fit into 23 with an emergency or two.

Sestan was selected for Casey, but came out of the team.

Of those who did not play against the Saints we have:

JVR, Jeffo, Tholstrup, Howes, Sestan and Culley.

Let's see what the Captain's Run brings tomorrow - if they emerge from AAMI. Forecast diabolical.

I'm enjoying a much needed break from the hustle and hustle in Melbourne, visiting family in the French and Swiss Alps over the next three weeks. The game starts at 7:30am here. I have never in my life felt less motivated to watch a game of football. I am quite looking forward to not watching it. It is seriously liberating to be in a place where it's so easy to break away from your own routine. I really look forward to reading through this thread, the game day and post game threads when I wake up at about 10am local time on Monday morning. I know absolutely no one cares about this but I have badly needed this trip from work and life, and after a week it has already highlighted how important it is to give your brain a break. Footy is just too much a part of my life to not be included in that "break" and so I have promised myself to just switch off and check in post-match. I am hoping for a win but I am not letting myself get worked up or too invested.

I am also meeting an old friend in Geneva for dinner on Sunday evening so there is a good chance I will be mildly hungover to such a degree as to be physically unable to wake up at 7am to watch the game so there is also that...

I am in the same boat as you. Off the Byron Golf Club Monday with an Aints supporter to avoid the game.

If ever there was a weekend to be schussing at Hotham and jager bombing at the General thus is the weekend!

Conditions will be a big factor as we've seen from the other games this weekend

it'll be wet conditions so that'll even things up. Hopefully we can come out on top in a slog fest

The pay off is that our last 7 games are in Melbourne but the scheduling is so uneven.

The last 7 in Melb isn’t right either from a national comp perspective and so uneven and reinforces the poor integrity of the AFL competition
