Good luck with that.

I’ll stay positive until I deem it completely and utterly pointless.

McDonald needs to be in this team whether that’s as a forward or a defender

The reason Tom's playing as a defender is that he was struggling to get a game as a forward.

Not the answer, that ship has sailed. The last season Tom was really effective as a forward was in 2018 I believe. He had a few cameos in 2021, but leading into the grand final he'd managed 4 goals in 6 games.

It continues a recent tradition of recruiting nqr players from other clubs and then being stuck with them,

Sharp

Who have we got since Langdon that has been successful, I can’t recall any?

We didn’t pay anything significant for any of these players. They are mostly picked up for depth and to support the young players at Casey.

We’ve used our draft picks for quality kids.

We play Collingwood then Port in Port, a bye, then Gold coast away and Adelaide away. Oh boy.

Tis Boom or Bust....

Can't see anything in between.

Happy to leave him down back . Can we do that ?

Probably one of the more consistent and reliable on the list presently.

And he's where 🤔🤔🤔

Agree with that, but my point was which players since say Langdon, have we recruited from other clubs, who are regular 23 players.

If you look at Hawks, Pies and Cats for example, they have added good players to their lists.

There are FA’s who you don’t need to spend your draft picks on.

He's been horrible in every full game hes played. Folks on here get so blinded by his occasional sum cameos every now and then.

Hes a sub par VFL standard player.

Sharp doesn’t tackle. Bring in Henderson in this role, he applies more pressure and tackle numbers at Casey have been consistent.

Been thinking about this for a while. MUST tag Faicos, might give the job to Rivers. If we dont tag him he will get 50 possesions 3 goals and 6 Brownlow votes.

THOUGHTS??

I’d tag them both and pay some attention to Pendles and Sides. Close those 4 down and we’re a chance.

If we keep this under a 10goal loss it will be a miracle.

Elliot will kick 5, Hill 4 and Daicos boys will have 75 between them.

We will kick 3.12 most likely

With the rain forecast for monday we are certain to win as we have been training for wet weather with all our soccer practice.

The very end of his 21 season was poor, but up until then he was superb.

Your point still stands, though. No need to play him forward. I'm not sure we even need to play him back. Fantastic season to date, and extremely unlucky to be pushed out, but he's 34 and has talked openly about his clanking body. We need to plan for the future now.

It was only 12 months ago that JVR had a near career best game against Darcy Moore with 3 goals and 9 marks. Was an absolute shining light that day and looked like that genuine young key forward we’ve been crying out for.

I’m glad he’ll back in the side. Far more upside and skill than AJ and now needs to be back in the side and work his way into form. AJ getting suspended is actually a good thing IMO.

Not a lot of players kick through properly extending their legs.. many keep it bent somewhat.

Jeffo is the latter from my obs.

Not a fan of that.

Subjective I understand.

Looking at the 5 goal highlights just now, I thought that he chopped at the ball rather than following through. Any coaches out there to give an expert opinion?

The approach; JEFFO is well balanced, has a sound rhythm and the ball is held steady. Stop the video immediately at ball drop. Admittedly more like Peter Hudson’s than Peter McKenna’s kicking action.

Jeff White wasn’t text book perfect but could roost it. Start again freeze video frame on boot connecting to ball. Doing something right there orthodox or otherwise. Not that the goal umpire would notice sailed straight over his hat.

Interesting to see if we bring Jeffo in...not sure I would, but the Melbourne FC app has a bit of a Jeffo feature and that usually means someone is going very well to get a game...well it does with a debut anyway.

Personally I reckon he might get eaten alive by the pies and he's doing well at Casey right now but he also seems like a bit of a younger Ben Brown with his kicking and his runups...I wonder if we'll bring him in.

Confident we’ll lift after a poor showing and be right in it.

ame one player the Hawks or Pies have drafted that have the talent of Windsor, Lindsay and Langford, you can't recruit top end mid 20'3 talent without giving up your high draft picks. We chose our path and so far I'm happy with that choice.

You’ve forgotten Mihocek (who I quite like actually, mystifies me that pies fans don’t ) will kick 6.1

Out...

Rubbish goal kicking.

Laziness

Maybe Goody.

Last chance for.me.

In

Players that don't give up so easily.

Some ticker.

And some more of what we showed in the two games prior to the saints.

I mean, I’m pretty optimistic and think we are a chance against the Pies but after turning around the season and winning 5/7 you want Goody fired if we don’t beat the most in form team in the competition??

Seems reasonable…

I was going to put him down for 4 as well but I got too depressed and moved on.
Smart footballer, sort of like Melksham in th way he uses his body

I detect a faint note of sarcasm in your post. And you know what they say about sarcasm.

I think saying if we lose this one then a change of coach isn't unreasonable. If we lose, one could well argue that he hasn't turned our season around.

I actually think we will win but in light of three years of poor goal kicking and a number of other factors, losing it is probably a fair litmus test for changing our coach. Not the end of the world . For me it's not really sacking the coach per se. It's really thinking of the benefit of changing one.

I don't want three years of no finals. But that's just me. ( Oh sorry I was being sarcastic there).

So yea it's pretty reasonable. So maybe cut the the sarcasm and be open to reason. Or not. But please don't be boring. I'm asking nicely. Cheers.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
