VOTES: Rd 10 vs Brisbane

Lot of luv for Clarry’s game here. I thought it was a huge improvement from him. But if I’m positioned to be a tagger, but my “tagee” gets 30 possessions (7 more than me) and only one less clearance than me, have I really done a good job?

2 Trac - leading possession getter for the game but appears so low in the votes? Maybe we expect too much of Trac, but he was great again.

Not for me my good man, I can't speak for other voters but I thought he was sensational.

7 x I50s

8 x Score involvements

9 x clearances (the game high) and 7 of them from the middle

His best game since KB for mine, he also attended 29 centre bounces and played extensively through the midfield so that was extremely encouraging. Had he kicked that goal at the end he would have banked a Brownlow vote for sure.

Definitely his best game since return.

And the thing is, this is what should have been expected from him in the first place - that after such a significant set of injuries, it was always going to take time for him to find his feet, form and trust his body. I dare say he is still near the start of that joruney.

He's only going to get better.

Probably not a true tag, as the stats show. And that is also likely because Clarry was given the freedom to punish the other way, too, and still play his own brand - 7 clearances, 5 score involvements and 1 goal. They are not tagging stats, but I would say his impact on Neale curtailed his influence, not necessarily his ability to get the ball (which as a dual brownlow medallist, is going to be a given). Neale was certainly around, and got the ball, but did not have his normal impact on the game, which goes a long way for Brisbane wins. And that's thanks to our boy, Claz.

But you're right, not a true tag haha

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
