I want Goodwin gone, have since that filthy North game, but I'd rather talk about how we dig ourselves out of the hole we're in than that take pot shots at Goodwin supporters. The idea that some Bombers supporting trash would be trawling this and laughing at Demons supporters turning on each other makes my skin crawl. We're better than them and we should act like it.

As for Goodwin, he's in "full support of the board" territory at the moment, they're probably weighing up right now when they make their move, mid-season or end of the year. The CEO thing worries me more, that seat has been empty far too long and is a major spanner in finding a new coach.

A few good signs, probably all we can expect for the moment.

  1. On what basis should that performance be โ€œall we can expect for the momentโ€ ?

  2. Your comment suggests that we can expect improvement in the future.

From where is this improvement to come?

How do you sell hope when you are 0-5 and beaten by the team who has your first pick? I'm kind of gobsmacked that no-one around here is talking about this.

We have no CEO, a temporary president, a coach who has his head on the block and we're just assuming people are gonna keep fronting up to games? For what? The same garbage week after week with no direction?

I'm looking forward to next week when someone posts about the crowds being terrible like it's some massive surprise and how terrible our fans are. What is the vision MFC? What is the identity and what do we stand for? I haven't once bashed the love and commitment stuff, I actually get sick of media taking things that Goodwin says and run them as year long stories. However, we don't look like a team that plays with love and connection.

As for the game, why not just watch a video of the last 4 games spliced together because it was exactly the same game. We turn up fir the bounce, don't lay a tackle for 5 minutes, et the uncontested possesion count balloon out with the oppo 2 or 3 times as many as us and fail to gather cleanly or hit a target for a metre away. It it literally the worst block of football I've seen this club play since 2014-15.

No idea the way out of it, we just need an ugly win. I don't care how we get it and I don't know the answers right now but clearly no-one at the club does either.

I've been a Goody fan over the entire journey, forever grateful for 2021, the funky run of late 2018, and some solid H&A performances over the years, but I think he's done. <20 games left with us. Would he even get another coaching gig? I'm skeptical.

Losing to GWS and getting smashed by the Suns and Geelong is somewhat forgivable, but getting belted by two absolutely putrid teams in North and Essendon ON TOP OF THAT is the absolute point of no return.

I've long mocked the 'lost at selection' crowd for their lack of insight, but what the hell was 'Out. Turner In. Lindsay' going to achieve? Just diminish a weak forward line even further? Surely Jeffo or even Fullarton was worth a shot. A grey haired midget in Melksham and JVR/Fritsch in their current form was never going to cut it. Even the 171cm Kosi Pickett was playing FF at one stage!!!

0-5, no first round pick, and the very real possibility Kosi, Trac and Clarry pack their bags in October. May and Gawn enter 2026 as 34 year olds too. ... I really hope we're not the next West Coast Eagles.

Decent performance across the ground, marred by a few costly errors (May and Gawn dropped marks), the younger players struggling a bit, Windsor hasn't been himself since returning, Langford can't handball to save himself, Lindsay getting too easily out-bodied, etc. etc. But tackles, clearances, contested possessions all trending in the right direction.

However: This was supposed to be the breakout year for JVR, unfortunately it's close to his worst. Add the injury to Jefferson, Johnson not there yet (if he'll ever be?), and Fullarton improving but ???, and we have a forward line that is a long way off kicking enough goals.

Oh yeah it's just the kids not pulling their weight which is why we are shizenhousen. Absolutely delusional, the team is cooked at the moment and it starts with Goodwin, we can't get rid of him quick enough.

Highest score for the year is 74 points, last two have been sub-60. Wonโ€™t win a game until we fix the forward line. Entries are pox as are leading patterns.

What leads woe!? Count them on one hand.

A few others that were timed poorly or in Rooh's case... running under the ball.

Rooh mostly runs away from the ball carrier and gives them nothing to hit up.

A very good senior school footy team would occasionally play their forward method better than ours.

Our ball watching and inability to man up is incredibly poor.

In that final quarter when we needed to get the ball back but refused to break out of the ridiculous back half zone. And that's on the coach. The players are no doubt following instructions.

It's got to the point that the players really need to start changing things up themselves in game and not listen to what the coach/es are telling them to do.

You're 20+ points down with 10 min to go and still zoning off / guarding grass as if you're 2 to 3 up coming into half time.

What's Simon thinking with all of this? It's certainly not going to win any games of footy other than against another shocking team in a similar hole like WC. I doubt we'd beat them on the road either though.

Looking more and more like adding another spoon to the cutlery drawer.

I think we're in for a big clean out.

The way things are going anything is possible.

I wouldnโ€™t even rule out a player revolt against Goodwin currently being the problem, of course that being contrary to the popular belief that the players โ€œloveโ€ the coach.

Don't get me started on Windsor. The guy was absolutely electric for us on a wing last year and was one of our best attacking weapons. I thought the move to defence over summer was silly at the time and it looks absolutely ridiculous now.

The biggest issue is that we are unwatchable at the moment. In 5 games I cannot remember any play, mark or goal that has got me out of my seat. 51 inside 50's for 8 goals, 5 of which came in 1 quarter. Inside 50 kicking efficiency a woeful 33.3% and 4 I repeat 4 contested marks inside 50. The latter is no surprise given for the first half we played the smallest forward line ever with an extra man down back

We never looked like winning and as much as I like the young talent, we might as well play 15 as we have 3 rookies who just don't get enough of the ball. The club is killing Windsor in his 2nd year down back and completely destroyed JVR's forward play in a season when he wasn't going to play in the ruck.

I just find watching our games as torture with the style of play, turnovers and no vision of any semblance of a game plan.

We were brilliant at times in Round 1 against GWS.

That is what is so bizarre. Our stoppage game was on, our forward craft was there, our forwards had separation, and ever since three quarter time in Round 2 (although we were low pressure in the first half too), we've been abysmal.

Is there anyone on this site still backing Goodwin in? Surely if this site is even a semblance of how the the power brokers at our club feel, then surely serious discussions are going to be taking place on Goodwin's future.

I keep hearing it's too early to sack a coach but do we have to be 0-10 before he's sacked?

One would hope that the Powerbrokers would have started the discussion once the final siren blew after the North game.

I get all the scrutiny on the coach but how does Choco Williams, the guru of skills development, escape the wrath of Demonlanders?

The number of times tonight a forward would actually provide a half decent lead only to have the ball sat up on his head was monotonous.

Sure. Which only goes to show how little it takes to really fall off the pace.

Oh for an in-form Ben Brown as a forward focus, and the duo of doom in Lever and May (who was clearly playing injured tonight?) down back, and a Gus Brayshaw holding everyone and everything together. Yet alone a 2021 Clayton Oliver, or a Jack Viney playing in a game style that suits him. Then there's Jackson, who not only held the fort when Max was off but effectively gave us extra midfielder.

Them's big losses, and we're paying the price.

We also lost Barassi to Carlton.

One thing I'll say about the pressure rating, it's bloody hard to get a good one when you let the opposition run around taking uncontested marks all the time.

Our pressure ratings have been ordinary post Round 1, so it's not just the Geelong and Essendon game.

We played JVR, Jefferson and AJ - 3 talls who contested in the air and bought the ball to ground for the small forwards. We have played short ever since Jeff's broke his hand (we wern't bad in that 1st quarter). We lost tonight at the selection table IMO

Why not do what Essendon have tried. Play 2 ruckman. Let Verral have a go at the first bounce and let Max start up forward as Draper does. You need marking targets not witches hats

I remember in the afterglow of the flag Max waxing about Goodwin as a premiership coach now having a job for life.
(Either coaching or in the media)

I'm also skeptical.
Been the subject of various forms of scuttlebutt and now leading the club down the gurgler at an alarming rate.

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere
