I know Goodwin will say we believe in our plan and program, that it was unacceptable today, that we know what we need to do etc... But we need more from him today. We, the members and supporters need an explanation from coach and President.

Just watched as much of the presser as I could, and you almost had it word for word! Just missed 'stoppage and scrimmage'.

He doesn't mind taking a million from the club though. What a spineless way to give up on the club that made you the star you are.

Disgraceful comment.

Spineless? he had a near fatal injury playing for our club. He carried the club in most games last year before being injured.

The club that made him a star, eh?. You mean the guy that got us a premiership, right?. Forget the NSM. He got 10/10 BnF votes from each of the 4 Demon coaches for the GF.

If you were there today you must have missed seeing how much he cares. He didn't give up today - many others did.

We stole the flag in 2021, absolutely robbed the dogs.

We cannot run , cannot mark, do not lead , and cannot tackle and are not fit. But we can fumble, Pity about XL,

To my mind the only time we looked a side was when AJ was throwing his weight around. We have been soft cooks since 2000 when no one stood up to essenscum and last year against Mmmaynard and then they shook his hand and spoke to him like he is human.

No wonder other clubs laugh at us and are not concerned.

On the other hand I did think most of the players were trying only a couple were half hearted,

I dread seeing what happens next week.

I 'm sorry Uncle. But I know you at least have a good sense of humour and are not as thinned skinned as some in these parts

I couldn't resist to tell you to stop bragging

I'll probably get suspended but if you have any emails of the powers to be at DL tell them that there is a minor flaw in the new website.

I did message through the contact us link here but everyone is probably too busy drowning their sorrows.

Ps its nothing to be ashamed of mate.

In fact say it loud and say it proud.

That was very good . I probably should have kept mum.

For the record and I need your help I am totally refraining from any before things get out of hand.

I have informed DL and I'm not posting until it's fixed.

I did message with one of Bbos posts but that is all.

Trac's body language wasn't off ( looking from the MCC member's stand). At times he was frustrated, disappointed at his inability to contribute in his normal manner.

I think we need to remember he nearly died last year. It will take time for him to get back to his best.

This would be the 1000th time this has been said and it is still completely wrong. Next poster to say it should get a holiday. Also totally unrelated to the current predicament.

We do suck massively right now.

Just like this? Have people changed other people's words before?

If I'd known I probably would have put a few people in their place. Or at least toned down some of the abuse hurled at me on a couple of occasions. But do I really want a sanitized DL?

Probably safer to just disable it. Have we just been working on the honor system?

Thanks for the heads up LH.

It's probably the seven bourbons I've had that made me discover it and not remember.

I've also noticed a direct correlation between my Liver test results after two MFC losses in a row.

Probably no coincidence.

Actually totally related in a fashion.

We had a lot of things go our way in 21, not tge least of all was we played an odd style that worked....but only then.

The same ppl haven't been able to truly create a game that works for us since. 23 was close but we were found wanting by teams that had a better game.

We are where we are . It's not an accident, we're here by design.

It's totally relatable imho

I'm just wondering after the seven bourbons where people actually rate North M. and Gcs,?

I mean losing to the giants hurt but I know they are a good team.

I would not have thought so about the others.

Too early maybe.

Actually only six bourbans. I have small fingers too.

Is that a lot?

I started at 1.30 as well.

So one every 90 mins or close .

Any Hepatologists about?

Please don't anyone change that amount with a stroke to number sixteen.

It's going to be a tough season I fear for my health.

Picked the wrong weekend to give cocaine.

Having watched the demons as long as I have . 2021 was the aberration . So the statement stands upright by itself.

As does your last line , I agree.

I don't think people change a quoted poster's words. What they do is highlight particular parts by underline, 'bold' or take irrelevant parts out of the quoted post.

To clarify the poster's original post remains as written eg see the orginal BBO post quoted/adjusted.

Hope you are keeping well, deeve

I think they have a shot at top 8 but they won’t mount to much in a finals campaign. Both probably 3-4 years away from challenging… but both could just pull a Hawthorn.

30 minutes of the purest footy. We were unstoppable in that Finals series. Unstoppable.

I can't cop this stealing a flag business. Things did line up for us but we were clearly the best team in 21.

We’ve got huge problems,

viney’s reaction time has slowed and he can’t win a clearance - and he can’t be trusted to kick it into Fwd 50 - don’t know what role he can play for the last 4 years of contract!

Fritch - going through motions - dialling in a performance and should be dropped after some soft efforts

May - lost a step of pace and won’t be the wall he once was but there’s no heir apparent.

Rivers - has a crack but just turns the ball over by hand and foot far too often. But I still think he needs to replace Viney in centre.

Melksham - getting his super topped up over past two years but we should have moved on this year and fought for Membrey or Stringer.

Van Rooyen going backwards - confidence shot and needs coaching to be more active (on the move) in fwd line.

Goodwin - his game style over past 5 years has worn out players and he can’t pivot. No longer inspiring a performance and can’t solve forward line inefficiency issues - time to go.

I miss the good people we had around our club. Gus, Nibbler, Hibberd, Jetta. Bedford, Jordon.

All had flaws but guys you could rely on to crack in.

Honestly the types Tim Lamb brought in....billings...schache...Grundy...mcadam....we moved away from guys that could win contests...to guys that just have no physicality. Or weak mentality. Or weak bodies. You couldn't have managed a list more poorly if you tried.

We were such a brutal team at the peak.

Sigh

I just can't get over the fact that some seem to think we stole a flag, while others think we should have been a dynasty. Do our supporters even like MFC? I am so disappointed at today's showing (and last week's), but I'm not going to neg out about the past. I'm still so happy I got to see my team win a flag, even if I wasn't able to be there in person.

I thought North sounded better- with more upside for supporters before our game with them when they called out the players names pre game. And so it proved. Our response and this is Goodwins issue is when we have a goal kicked against us it’s, mid field, leaders have a chat with Max, put head down and just boot it out of the centre if they get it. So easy and predictable to defend against. And because they go head down all out attack they are in no position to defend from the centre if Max is dominant.

Viney, Oliver have been brilliant for us but have had an armchair ride from Max all their careers.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Having convincingly defeated last year’s premier and decisively outplayed the runner-up with 8.2 in the final quarter, nothing epitomized the Melbourne Football Club’s performance more than its 1.12 final half, particularly the eight consecutive behinds in the last term, against a struggling St Kilda team in the midst of a dismal losing streak. Just when stability and consistency were anticipated within the Demon ranks, they delivered a quintessential performance marked by instability and ill-conceived decisions, with the most striking aspect being their inaccuracy in kicking for goal, which suggested a lack of preparation (instead of sleeping in their hotel in Alice, were they having a night on the turps) rather than a well-rested team. Let’s face it - this kicking disease that makes them look like raw amateurs is becoming a millstone around the team’s neck.

  • CASEY: Sydney

The Casey Demons were always expected to emerge victorious in their matchup against the lowly-ranked Sydney Swans at picturesque Tramway Oval, situated in the shadows of the SCG in Moore Park. They dominated the proceedings in the opening two and a half quarters of the game but had little to show for it. This was primarily due to their own sloppy errors in a low-standard game that produced a number of crowded mauls reminiscent of the rugby game popular in old Sydney Town. However, when the Swans tired, as teams often do when they turn games into ugly defensive contests, Casey lifted the standard of its own play and … it was off to the races. Not to nearby Randwick but to a different race with an objective of piling on goal after goal on the way to a mammoth victory. At the 25-minute mark of the third quarter, the Demons held a slender 14-point lead over the Swans, who are ahead on the ladder of only the previous week's opposition, the ailing Bullants. Forty minutes later, they had more than fully compensated for the sloppiness of their earlier play with a decisive 94-point victory, that culminated in a rousing finish which yielded thirteen unanswered goals. Kicks hit their targets, the ball found itself going through the middle and every player made a contribution.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

Hands up if you thought, like me, at half-time in yesterday’s game at TIO Traeger Park, Alice Springs that Melbourne’s disposal around the ground and, in particular, its kicking inaccuracy in front of the goals couldn’t get any worse. Well, it did. And what’s even more damning for the Melbourne Football Club is that the game against St Kilda and its resurgence from the bottomless pit of its miserable start to the season wasn’t just lost through poor conversion for goal but rather in the 15 minutes when the entire team went into a slumber and was mugged by the out-of-form Saints. Their six goals two behinds (one goal less than the Demons managed for the whole game) weaved a path of destruction from which they were unable to recover. Ross Lyon’s astute use of pressure to contain the situation once they had asserted their grip on the game, and Melbourne’s self-destructive wastefulness, assured that outcome. The old adage about the insanity of repeatedly doing something and expecting a different result, was out there. Two years ago, the score line in Melbourne’s loss to the Giants at this same ground was 5 goals 15 behinds - a ratio of one goal per four scoring shots - was perfectly replicated with yesterday’s 7 goals 21 behinds.
This has been going on for a while and opens up a number of questions. I’ll put forward a few that come to mind from this performance. The obvious first question is whether the club can find a suitable coach to instruct players on proper kicking techniques or is this a skill that can no longer be developed at this stage of the development of our playing group? Another concern is the team's ability to counter an opponent's dominance during a run on as exemplified by the Saints in the first quarter. Did the Demons underestimate their opponents, considering St Kilda's goals during this period were scored by relatively unknown forwards? Furthermore, given the modest attendance of 6,721 at TIO Traeger Park and the team's poor past performances at this venue, is it prudent to prioritize financial gain over potentially sacrificing valuable premiership points by relinquishing home ground advantage, notwithstanding the cultural significance of the team's connection to the Red Centre?
