i have said this all along neale should coach us next year!

players should stick to doing what they are paid for and let the Board do there job, it is important that we don't bring emotions to the table with this one.

Surely you jest.

How can anyone in their right mind believe he was the man for the job when we were 0-9 and the coach had a winning % of less than 50.

soo players shouldnt have any good connection with their coach?

play for their money and thats all?

bad post.... VERY NEGATIVE

id rather the coach and the players be closer than keepin distance

Players should not pick their coach. Ever.

Neale coached well on the weekend but whether he get re-signed should be based on his/Melbourne's performance over the last year/3 years/10 years and whether the board believe he can take Melbourne to a premiership.

I don't.

The one sensible thing I have heard is that if Neale is going to be replaced the candidate should have been identified before this happens...I personally think that through this rough patch he has demonstrated enormous character and grit and that has manifested itself in the results of the past 2 weeks.. He will only get better and having the players respect at this stage of the game is important because it demonstrates unity, solidarity and willingness to work for each other.

Give him another 2 or 3 years...

I could be wrong but didn't Sydney Players after Eade was sacked demand that Roos rather than Wallace be their coach. I think that has worked ok?

Not that I am advocating Daniher staying on next year, btw. I think his time has come. He has earnt the right to see out the year, and have things professionally evaluated from there. I think the board's approach has been very mature this year.

Fans and to a much greater extent, sponsors, pretty much decided Roos would be coach of Sydney.

I agree with the second part of your post. Have no problem at all with Melbourne's professionalism off the field this year.

Sign ND for another 2 -3 years.

He has my complete support. He is becoming a better and better coach. I believe that no one could have done better with our troops than ND this year despite being 0 – 9. We simply did not have a competitive team on the park. For the last couple of years he has been fantastic on all coaching levels. He use to be one dimensional, he use to have blinkers on, but we now have many different game plans that we chop and change throughout the game to our advantage. Further he has proven to be a sensational motivator, leader and more often than not tactician.

If ND can think up an out of the box game plan that suits our list, supported by the other game plans that are required at times and which we have already become proficient at he will become a premiership coach with the MFC. He realises this. Lets not give him away now he has become competent. He will be a premiership coach................ mark my words.

Lets re-sign him and let him bring a premiership to the MFC rather than have trained him up to win a flag for one of our competitors.

Still aswell as resigning ND, i wouldn't mind him giving the youngsters a chance for the rest of the season, and i still reckon we need to fix some of the holes in our list

The thing going for Daniher, is outside the existing coaches, i don't think there are many assistants who you could immediately identify as excellent candidates for the job - when Daniher was appointed he was generally considered to be a standout assistant...

Really? :o

Any chance the Sydney Football Club Board might have made the decision? <_<

I have not wanted him re signed, but his coaching in the last 4 weeks has been 100% better, still not convinced he should go on.

If he was given 1 or 2 years i wouldnt be too disappointed.

Actually when i think about it, Robbo and Neita going to the press after 2 wins is symptomatic of what this club has been like for the last 3-4 years. When we start winning the club starts pre-emptively talking it up massively with hotair before the bubble inevitably bursts...

remember Ridley's famous call of "best team since 1964" in '05...

i'd say robbo and neita are better off concentrating on footy.

Totally agree.

The comments by Green and those two really do show how they think internally.

We get sooooo far ahead of ourselves and yes we look good at the minute but what if say Neitx went down for a monh

Even when we were flying this time last year, I think they needed to concentrate on developing a harder style of play to survive finals football even if it meant sacrificing a game or two.

Right on the money Moneyball. The decision on who coaches in 2008 is for the Board and I think it's inappropriate for the players to be discussing it in the media. There are other and better ways to show your support for the coach and that's mainly on the field of play.

If you believe the rumours that were floating around at the time they had all but signed up someone else but there was an uproar from their fans and the decision was quickly shelved. It was quite widely discussed at the time, I have no idea if it was true or not but it wouldn't be the first time that that board had done something unusual.

Are they the only board not voted in by their members? (Kangas as well perhaps)

You seem to have missed the words "pretty much" in my post. Of course the board took the final decision but it was under intense pressure from fans and sponsors.

The point was however, that the players had very little influence in the final decision.

If you make a point that u'll make a decision at the end of the year about ND's coaching tenure when ur 0-9, u'll look totally stupid n impulsive if u sign him up after a couple of wins.

ND's got my support till the end of the year but his got one hell of a case to argue if he wants to stay on.

He's being great for mfc so he deserves respect.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
