Methinks amidst all our angst about losses, Harvey's first game performance has gone under the radar.

  • 26 disposals ( 3rd team best) @ 77% DE

  • 15 contested possessions (team best)

  • 6 clearances (team best)

  • 5 inside 50 (team best)

  • 365 mt gained (5th team best)

  • 10 score involvements (equal team best)

  • 1 goal

All in just 66% game time. Imagine the damage he will inflict when he plays a full game.

We just experienced our future and it will be worth going to games to watch him play.

So just want to draw attention to his stunning debut.

Great pick up Luci

Definitely a great first up and glimpse of the future a wonderful foil for all my negative thoughts

It's just a shame he gets to celebrate it with a bunch of leaders with no spirit

Maybe, but lets make this thread about acknowledging Harvey as there plenty of threads to express disappointment with others.

Well posted @Lucifers Hero

Was happy with his performance, almost had 2 goals.

Most contested possessions and clearances for us from a second gamer in hist first start is quite a stat.

90% kicking efficiency a nice change for our mids as well.

Will need to adjust to the tempo/speed/awareness of AFL footy, was caught holding the ball a few times .

Would like him to get a few more tackles as well.

Now lets hope we can make sure he sticks around...I take comfort in our kids, we've got some good ones, Harvey one of my fav draft picks for any team for ages I reckon!

Very excited about Harvey. Has a bit of Ernie Els 'The Big Easy' about his kicking at goal. Nonchalant.

Reckon it's an Aus Kicker!!

After his great preseason the coaches decision to hand him the sub vest in rd1, and drop him for Rd 2 while giving XL a start on minimal preseason just boggles my mind.

XL has been great, HL should've played full games in Rd1 and 2....

Agree

Amateur hour

He's a ripper. I was on his bandwagon all last year and stoked he slid to us. He's going to be an elite midfielder and he showed why on the weekend. He's got a long way to being a finished product obviously, especially his defensive efforts with weak tackling attempts, but he's got an innate ability to find the ball, make decisions under physical pressure, and hit targets by foot. Love that he hits the scoreboard too. He's the key cog to build our future midfield around, with Windsor being the perfect partner in crime for the outside pace and stoppage exit.

That was Langford's first full game on the weekend and I reckon it's the best "debut" game since Clarry burst onto the scene against GWS approx 10 years ago. Hopefully we can lock Langford away long term and build around him.

It's refreshing to have a mid that can lower the eyes and hit targets while under pressure exiting stoppages.

Just scratching the surface with his potential as he's incredibly good overhead as well.

Langford, Lindsay, Windsor and Tholstrup is a damn good starting point for a midfield rebuild.

Just got the rising star nomination for the week

Well done son.

Missed out on coaches votes but has a much deserved Rising Star Nomination.

It didn't go under my radar mate 😆

But completely agree, a Judd-like debut.

What I love about Langford is his ball use. Sam Mitchell wasn't quick either, but he was tough, he'd win contest and use it well. Langford's ground game might not be as good as Mitchell, but he will be an aerial threat in time.

He even played from the goal square at at least one centre bounce.

Judd and Mitchell. No pressure, Harvs.

A midfield of Langford, Lindsay and Windsor is salivating. Lindsay's tackling is insane.

A bloke by the name of Lindsay had a pretty b loody good debut too a few weeks ago.

Stoked for Harvey! Hopefully this means we see him as a regular now.

Actually surprised he picked up the nom. I feel that the judges typically favour picking nominees following a win instead of a loss.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
