I meant the chant when the game is won!  ideally in the last minute after we had a 'Bang! bang, bang!!! series of goals ala 2021 GF but end of 4th qtr not the 3rd.

Oh such a sweet enhancement to the ChatGPT predicted 10pt win!

That would be the sweetest victory of all

So did I !!!!!!!

if I regain consciousness within 10 minutes after the final siren I’ll chalk that up as a win, or even a miracle!

Didn’t know where to post this but wanted to share it, thought here’s as good as anywhere else.

So, Fox Footy has asked us to make a full-sized banner (which we’re doing today) and they want us and our banner to feature in their main footy season promo. 🥳 🥳🥳

Thing is though, they’re filming it tomorrow outdoors (of course) and it’s gonna be 42 degrees. And because it’s supposed to look like we’re raising the banner during a match, they’ve requested we wear jumpers, beanies and scarves…. 42 degrees… FORTY TWO DEGREES

Good times 😳

We will be at the G on the last Saturday of September.

To back that up I've booked a city hotel for that weekend - this year it is a non-refundable booking!!

Love That optimism!! But I agree

Tell them to postpone

Edited by Roost it far

I find it interesting that there’s quite a bit of talk about the pies winning the flag. Personally I think they’ve got zero chance.

Would love that but it won’t happen. They’ve said tomorrow so tomorrow it is. Mind you the ad is gonna feature a bunch of red-faced sweaty folks on the verge of passing out but clearly Fox Footy is ok with that.

Oh and they’re shouting us pizzas, just in case our core temperatures aren’t high enough 😅

You can do it. Go Dees.

we're already well ahead of where we were this time last year.

if our luck holds we should make top 4 no excuses

Thats my thinking. Bar Lever, Spargo and now Chandler we've got a list who've enjoyed a longer and way less interrupted preseason than we've had since 2020. Then you add a softer draw, some very strong new recruits and a solid Max back up and I honestly think we're going to be challenging at the pointy end.

I’m thinking top eight, but not top four. At who’s expense I have no idea, but I’m hoping that Freo implodes and does a Dees ‘24.

I wish it was Carlton and hopefully Geelong but sadly , it's probably going to be other teams.

Minor premiers with 19 wins.

punch through finals to beat Lions in GF

Clarry for Brownlow

Langford for Rising Star

Pickett for Norm Smith

Now that’s true ‘Demon Spirit’.

The banner (two identical banners that is, in case the elements wreck the first one) actually says “UNITED BY DEMON SPIRIT” which is great because we get to reuse them. Just need to rip the Fox logo off it.

You're usually pretty circumspect when it comes to the Dees, Tony.

This prediction surprises me.

Tenth.  No way we're winning it with that forward line.

I don't read replies or reactions.

I don’t think the forward line is too bad

JVR, Turner, Fritsch, Pickett, Petracca, Langford, Chandler, Spargo, speculate on Johnson or Jefferson proving handy, Petty can swing down there. I think there’s enough weapons to kick a winning score especially with the strength we hold through the middle and defensively where we’re as good as anyone.

Our midfield has elite players, but runs thin and is slow. Disposal skills are average too.

Our defence has elite players, but they have been riding high on a defensive game plan. They are average one on one and in fast transition. More than top teams. Offensively they are poor.

Chandler is a work horse and is important. JVR and Turner are potential status at this stage. Pickett is inconsistent. Spargo is low possession but high impact, but is too low in possession to have much impact. Fritsch is elite. Langford, Johnson and Jeffo have yet to play,

Definitely The Dream… but imagine the stress of the last few minutes!!! Not sure any of us would hold up. 😳

Your boss would be ok… must be used to losing Grand Finals by now 😂

I don't know if Used to it was what he suggested but he's sure Sick of losing them. 12 Grand Final Losses he told me he's seen. Can you imagine what we'd be like as people if we seen that many. Trust me he's as bad as a Collingwood fan as you can think of as well. Worst of the worst. I would like to stop losing to those mugs year after year.

We’ll be better largely because of fewer disasters (on and off field) but we won’t worry the top teams.

We just don’t score enough and I haven’t seen/heard of anything that we’ve done in the offseason that will meaningfully change us in this department.

Obviously I hope I am wrong.

Points taken but I think you’re underestimating what Windsor, Langford, Lindsay and Tholstrup will bring to the side this year. I’d add a fit Bowey and maybe even Salem and our defence to offence looks much much better.

Midfield options are stacked unlike last year which means we're always a chance, don't care if a couple are untried, Clayton Oliver was our best player at quarter time of his first game anyways...!

Oliver

Rivers

Viney

Pickett

Langford

Tholstrup

Lindsay

I agree Roost it.  I look forward to watching said players and the return of our elite players.

Too many variables to be confident imo this year….could go many ways

  • GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Adelaide

It's Game Day and the Demons are back on the road for their 3rd interstate game in 4 weeks as they face a fit and firing Crows at Adelaide Oval. With finals now out of our grasps what are you hoping from the Dees today?

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
