Does anyone think we try and snag Freo's first (currently 12) as part of this deal?

Of course.

That is the deal or no deal.

We are not taking 38.

We can do a deal with WC then, to send him to the PSD, by say clearing Woey to them for a pick,

I’d love the club to say pick 12 or a solid player or it’s the PSD. I know we won’t do it but jeez it would feel good watching him run around for WC.

PSD. stuff the kid.

Enjoy West Coast and getting Booed for the rest of your career as a lock down defender coz that's all he's good enough to do.

First rounder or make him walk to WC.

I honestly would rather nothing and WC drafting him than a third/fourth rounder.

This is what I would like to see us doing, however…

I reckon the crux of the deal will be a future 2nd. But Lamb will hold out until the very last minute. He sounded absolutely filthy about Judd.

This is what I think will happen.

I would definitely demand a future pick for a better draft next year, or a first rounder this year, and if Freo don't budge, so long farewell enjoy West Coast.

To bend over to Judd and Freo for a pick we won't be using in this year's draft anyway, is a far worse outcome than to let him walk for nothing.

Sometimes you just have to put your foot down.

That's exactly where it falls for me.

It's a free hit to make a statement.

I'll be blo@dy furious if we don't do this.

Some chat on trade radio on Freo possibly trading down from pick 12 to give us something in between their current first and second

Send him to the PSD and then threaten to pick him up again!

We should tell them immediately that its 12 or nothing..... We are ahead of them in the PSD, so we can just draft him again and he can play for Casey for a few years.

Pick 12 is overs for Judd. Not ridiculous overs and probably about right if he was contracted (ala Flanders for 7) but very unlikely to happen in an uncontracted scenario

I agree, he is worth a pick in the mid 20’s

Bit late for that one @Brenno. Charlie’s at North now.

Yeah I know mate, we got an end of second round pick for him. Send that pick with Judd to Freo for 12.

Give them Judd and the Spargo pick for 12.

Something similar may pan out (Melbourne have said they want to to get into the first round) but perhaps not directly with Freo

The issue with uncontracted players is that they have the leverage to walk to the draft. In this instance they don't have that leverage due to WC and us both being ahead of Freo in the draft order. like you said, 12 is probably a little overs for Judd, but we should be ruthless here and demand pick 12 ends up with us if they Freo want him.

Judd is screwing us here, there is no other way to look at it. Id rather make an example of him and ruin his plans then buckle on this one.

Have we ever seen a player walked to the draft and not end up at the club they wanted to get to? Nick Stevens maybe but that was a long time ago.

Just think Lamb’s ‘statement’ for Judd/Freo will be to push it to the wire before eventually ending up with a complicated swap of picks plus a 2nd rounder.

Have we ever seen a player want to go 'home' and the team with pick 1 in the PSD is in his home state, has all the money to burn, a coach who knows the player and a burning desire to stop being hot garbage?

Freo would not want to take the risk that Mini, who really rates Judd, pounces first and backs himself in to make Judd a midfielder, which is his real dream.

Maybe. Hopefully that threat is real.

So little has been reported in Judd’s decision - did he speak to Wet Toast at all?

Possibility also he would nominate for ND and Freo would trade back from pick 12 and pick him there if necessary. Not sure other clubs would want to spend a top 30 in a bloke who doesn’t want to come to them.

If I was Freo, pick 12 would not be involved in the deal at all.

No way Judd is that good

And he is uncontracted.

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
