McVee is out of contract end of 2025.

Without being shot down, I have it on pretty good authority that he will be asking to return home/play for West Coast after this contract expires.

I would imagine the club will be trying everything they can to retain Judd - given how good he has been in his first two years in the AFL side. FWIW, Woewodin also put feelers out to WA clubs given limited opportunity/setting record for most games as starting sub last year.

I hope that both of these don't eventuate and would like to think the large contingent of young WA talent will stick together.

Not overly fussed on Woey as I am not 💯 convinced on him but Judd is a must keep

Hopefully he signs on for a few more years, but wouldn’t surprise me if he did choose to go home either.

Would be a lot more disappointed to lose McVee than Woey, but do like both.

Things can change though, so let’s see what happens as the year progresses.

Can't abide McVee leaving - not just because he is my fave  🥰!

Did some checking around.  He loves the club and the coach.  Working on a deal to be announced in the coming month(s).  👏

So relax folks.

McVee should have a 3-4 year deal on offer.  He has the skill and composure to be a very very good player.  Let’s get this locked away early in 2025.

Cal Twomey said on a recent Gettable podcast that West Coast were coming hard for McVee with big $ being thrown around.

You'd hope he stays loyal seeing as we picked him up in the rookie draft when there wasn't much interest from elsewhere, and the fact he's become good mates with a number of the other young players at the club.

Plus he's from Geraldton, a 4 and a half drive from Perth.

We will get cooked in a trade

Out of contract and no one in the media knows who he is, recipe for disaster

$$$ always worry me but unless Eagles are being stupid we should be okay.

Prefer a 3 year deal rather than 4 for the usual reasons

Eagles appear to have not been very good at attracting the talent back home unlike Freo

My source is very reliable, so I do hope I'm wrong but i'll be amazed if there is any news in the next few months re staying.

thanks for the inside info

Agree with your sentiments regarding hoping it’s not true!

Can he leave as a FA as he was a rookie?

asking for a very concerned MFC supporter

No.  But it is rare for someone out of contract to not be trade on request.

Is that supporter 'Luci' 😉

Yeah I don't get a go home feeling from Judd at all from interviews. Things can obviously change but he seems to like the city, will be alert but not alarmed.

That is my fear:  things change 😢

Melbourne are prepared to offer Judd a deal to 2029 like they did with JVR. They’ll be happy to accomodate another 2 years though if that’s all he wants.

He’s very happy at the club and also has a partner who plays in AFLW side.

The McVee family should move to Melb

start a goFundMe?

Straight swap for Harley Reid

I recall mentioning that we are building quite a list of WA’s that would be good for trading.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
