Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is it this simple?

But what if it IS that simple, Fan? Perhaps we've been blinding ourselves with science.

I sometimes wonder why it is, in Australian football, that when one side gets right on top,it's hard for the other side to get a SINGLE possession. I think that it's because a team going into damage control holds no fears for the opposition. They can try anything. Even when it doesn't come off, they don't pay for their errors. The defensive team is too busy anticipating effective manoeuvres from their opponents to take advantage of their mistakes. The end result is often a blowout,as the attacking team's confidence rises, and v.v.

I think in our game the best method of defence is attack. It seems the umpires rule in favour of the pro-active team in 50:50 decisions, too, which helps the cascade.

With much of the game played above the shoulders I don't think it is that simple Jack!!

But ain't it great to have a win. :)

Fan... you have a point. We came a mediocre 5th last season by playing the footy that got us up today. Against a fully fit opposition, and away from the G it would have come down to luck. I can't help but applaud the fact that MFC tried to bring about change in the off-season... the debate should surround HOW they change... and how long they take to decide that their change in direction was a mistake.

I think Sheahan and Walls played a major part in the win today, which is kinda sad.

I hate that thought, and I have serious doubts that a match-day article written by one of these buffoons would count for much when you're out on the hallowed turf.

Last week we played defensively for 3 quarters and were shocking. We attacked in the last quarter and were brilliant. Today it was the reverse. The moral? We play better when we attack!

One thing that I noticed today was our defensive play, Tackles etc, which we were good at last year. They seemed to increase the intensity today and put pressure on the ball carrier which makes a massive difference to the delivery, thus gave our defenders a better chance at winning the contest.

I suspect you've played a bit of competitive sport Jack.

How has confidence affected the way you've played?

Confidence is not everything, but it is a vital element and therefore just attacking is not the sole answer IMO.

But I do believe in the KISS principle.

No they like to think they did. It was passion, hard work, belief and sheer talent. And I think our win prominently gives the bird to Robert Walls the jerk. He was standing in front of MCC area, was gonna go give him some choice words and thought better of it. Our boys spoke with their talent. Yeah lets trade em Wallsy! [censored]!

i'd say the attacking gamestyle is important in the boys playign well, but is indicative of their mindset. it's no coincidence that we played our best footy in he same game with such courageous acts as green's marks and bell's tackles, but to name a few.

the mindset is the most critical aspect in any sport, and can make teams look completely different.

It looked to me as if the "Fire Up" speech of ND's was made at 1/4 time and not at 3/4 time.

We got on the front foot and made the running as opposed to catching up.

It seemed that simple to me!

Yes. The difficulty is making the players play attacking football when they are feeling fragile.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
