I’d take Derksen in a trade deal. May is unfortunately not the player that he was, with injury and time slowing him down. Adams is okay but is treading water in the VFL and not showing any signs to me that he is ready for MFC footy. Derksen could be seen as a fit for May’s replacement. Just my opinion.

Why on earth would GWS want May!

Feel free to educate me, but I don't understand the hoopla about Derkson. Hasn't played and is injured. We tried for him last year. At least we're not trading for him. Club keeps mentioning him like he's the great white hope. Not dissing the fella, just hope it's not ANOTHER fizzer of a pick-up.

I would take that in a flash, sadly GWS are not that silly.

Us re-signing TMac gives me the impression that maybe Derksen isn't coming to Melbourne. Even then this signing wouldn't exactly fill me with confidence for our list next year.

Have you watched any games this year? He has consistently been the best KPB this year. He is the glue that has held the backline together and will do so again next season.

New coach new thinking new Era.

Move On!

Adams and Kentfield are the future.

Last l time checked the Titanic had gone down.

Yet some folk continue to be content with rearranging the deck chairs.

What hoopla? And where have the Club been mentioning him?

Where has anyone from the MFC talked him up?

His vfl form is excellent, he’s stuck behind 2 elite key backs and a far better depth tall (Aleer) than the rest of the comp has.

He’ll be basically free and should be at a minimum good depth. Can play multiple positions too.

It’s not easy to find talls in their mid 20’s ready to go for a cheap price. He might be no good at all but there’s enough to suggest he can be useful.

I said we should acquire Derksen in a trade deal … I didn’t say a swap of May and Derksen.

Other teams are also interested in him this year, so he may end up elsewhere.

Take it to the bank, he'll be at Melbourne.

Cal Twomey mentions him as coming to us in the latest Inside Trading on AFL.com.au. I trust him most out of all the journalists in this space.

By getting Derksen will spell the end of Jefferson.

Disagree.

I think we are looking at Derksen as a defender.

However I also think Jeffo won’t get more than another year to prove himself.

Jefferson has alot of work to do in the off-season.

In the gym and his anaerobic fitness base must be a massive priority, getting to contests and not hands on hips after 1 effort.

A change in coach might be a blessing in disguise for him and the list.

Goal kicking has been absolute atrocious for Matthew along with his aerial marking ability, simply has to develop more strings to his bow.

Absolute last chance saloon for him to make it, he'd want to be making significant strides in 26 otherwise its curtains at AFL level.

Sorry sns. I will have to reread, leaving that aside I think GWS would be the poorer from such a deal. May's value is over rated on here.

IMO Mr. Leg he has already shown us what he can do. It ain't much.

Journalists! 95% are commentators. CT hails from the 5% area.

This raises an interesting situation at the MFC. We have no coach yet we seem to be making decisions on who comes and goes.

Agree DS. We have 3 NQRs in Fullerton, Jefferson and Dull. You mentioned Adams, hmm 1 poor game at senior level to his credit. Being average in your first game is half expected. But Poor! Let's say that the job is in front of him.

Did Adams have a poor game though? I thought he looked pretty composed and didn't seem to make too many mistakes, but I could be mistaken. I certainly don't recall it as being anywhere near as bad as Petty's debut game years ago, and he's gone on to be pretty solid.

I’m not having a go or disagreeing but I had to laugh at the list of things he’s not great at in your post.

No 2nd efforts as he isn’t fit enough. Needs a new voice/coach. Lacks size. Poor set shot. Not a threat in the air.

Sounds like a perfect key forward prospect. 🫠

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
