This may well be true. But if I'd started a media [censored]-storm I would be doing my best to be discreet. Meeting with opposition players is not an act of good faith and I think it would reflect very badly on him. I hate to think what other players are thinking.

I think him meeting Neale is a good thing actually.
Neale was in a similar situation and was forced to stay by Brisbane. Went on to win a Brownlow and play off in a grand final.
It’s not as if he met him because he’s going to ask to be traded to Brisbane!

Hope Lachie gave him some sage advice on building a bridge.

I think long term, not short term.

I can't see the value in us handing better draft picks to the Suns, Pies and Dons. (And worsening our own picks.)

I think we should blood : Jefferson, Adams, Verrall, Farris-White.

Give Woey and other kids more game time.

Rest ANB - he's not our future.

I've always valued the logic of improving your draft hand over winning meaningless end of season games.

If you're ruthlessly serious about the long term goal of winning another flag, why shoot yourself in the foot?

This is an insane post and symptomatic of a particular section of our fanbase that is legitimately living in an alternate reality.

Trac was our best player in the 2021 finals, not only was he literally BOG in the GF but he also was at worst our 2nd player in the prelim win over the Cats. He then played a finals series with a broken leg in 2022. You're telling me Trac isn't the one who is connected to the club? The guy who was crying after we beat the Cats in 2021? Meanwhile your 'hero' Oliver wanted a trade end of 2020 because he cracked the [censored] at not placing higher in the B&F, then proceeded to completely go off the rails last year and put a massive spotlight on the club (I'm not even mentioning his terrible form this year).

I'd be shattered if Trac left but I can't blame him for being upset - not only over the handling of his injury, but the complete lack of standards in player selection, teammates taking the [censored] off the field etc. The sooner our fanbase wakes up to how much of a hole the club is in (Due to our own doing) the better.

THIS …,MELB 117 ..Suns 53  👍🏻😉

I find it hilarious how people are so quick to say that Trac needs to grow up but when people say the same thing about Oliver they get completely shot down.

This site can be very selective of who you can and can't criticise.

I think it would be because Clarry hasn't leaked to the media and also the tone of the criticism of Clarry has, at times, been pretty low-brow.

It was reported Petracca was spotted talking with Lachie Neale.

Christian Petracca spotted meeting Brisbane Lions captain Lachie Neale

He may be seeking the voice of someone who went through a similar experience, both requesting his trade from Freo then requesting one from Brisbane, but ultimately sticking with the latter.

Interesting reading this 2021 article about Neale's situation and his difficulty dealing with its public nature.

Real reason Lachie Neale backflipped on AFL trade request

That article explicitly says that Trac wasn’t meeting Neale to talk about leaving:

They talk about mindfulness and AFL360 gigs.

That article and Tweet are the absolute worst of AFL media.

Again I haven’t read the whole thread but is there any chance that Oliver and what happened with him is one of the things that Petracca is frustrated at?

Possibly. But Trac should know that peak Clarry makes his chances of success far greater.
I hope he sees the effort that Clarry has been putting in this year and cuts him some slack.
Now would be a good time for them to lean on one another and attack the pre season head on.

If Trac does stay, he’d want to have a stellar season in 2025.

If he and claryy get back to their best we will be top 4 again, they have to know that...

C'mon guys, it's clear that Christian caught up with Lachie Neale so they can compare their recent hauls from Cash Converters.

Your first post, and you suggest we don't prioritise beating the pies?

And you choose to post under the name of an untouchable legend of the MFC.

I'm not being facetious, or funny here, but your post is an insult to the memory of Norm Smith, both for suggesting we tank and that we not play the sort of true heart and soul warrior that the red fox built a dynasty around.

The media are grubs, agreed but that wasn't the point of the post.

Was more wanting to share/discuss the parallels of their stories.

I hope we smash the Pies. To win 12 games in a season where everything that could go wrong did go wrong would be a huge result.

The media narrative about our footy club would also be shot too! Can’t wait!

I heard it was a guy with track-marks spotted in the MCG bathroom with a Collingwood scarf on, which was covered in pie sauce.

Does anyone think that a root cause for the current situation between the club and Petracca is his deteriorated relationship with Clarry?

Not sure if they are in good terms, but they seemed estranged after the whole situation last year.

They may have been at the start of the year but on KB there were instagram videos of Clarry, Trac and Max all spending time together playing chess.

Oliver after surgery.

This seems quite timely and very targeted.

Is that just players or support staff too. Casey got flogged, so interesting if it was only the playing group involved

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
