They have a surplus of mids...Parish, Tsatas, Hobbs, Perkins that they could trade for further Trac currency, on top of owning their own 2024/5 picks

Richmond aren't trading 2 x Pick 1 for Trac although it does sound fun

Bombers: Petracca for 2 first rounders and Nate Caddy

Hawks: Petracca for 2 first rounders and Josh Weddle

Must say I'm a bit surprised by it too. You go from mid last week where people were saying his silent approach was necessary to the silence being deafening and his brand being damaged as a result.

I can only think that people think his silence now looks worse after the club have come out and addressed it, did interviews like Pert's and then all rocked up to the GC game minus him.

None of those players net you a top 10 pick.

If you believe Morris is getting his info from people in the know, he has said repeatedly 2 top 10 picks + a player, or 3 top 10 picks. That is obviously what that rat was told by Trac's management, as told to him by Tim Lamb.

If worse comes to worse:

Picks outside of maybe the top 3 are way too risky to trade a superstar for. Maybe in a deal or a 3 way deal the Suns pick 6ish could be an option but that’s still too low. The cost in picks alone should be monumental.

I doubt anyone is doing a star in a one for one.

An emerging star is our only viable option. So here’s a lot of players that I’d have on a list of options who at least keep me on the phone for longer than 1 second.

(Obviously excluding Daicos, Sheezel, Reid, JHF level guys and the additional picks depend on which player)

Tracs management must think they can get a deal done if they are happy to be leaking this to Tom Morris. For that to be the case they must have spoken to other clubs. 
We are 2 months away from trade period. Are we in for two months of Tracs team spoon feeding Morris everything Trac has been unhappy with over the past couple of years?! Going over every negative story that has come out and offering Tracs inside take on it?

Would put that big a wedge between him and the club and I think we would have to trade him.

From what I've read about Carlton, there is no way any of their players want to leave. They have all taken an oath to try and win a premiership together. McKay and Curnow ain't leaving, despite how good Petracca is. And how would he fit into their midfield, which is already stacked.

Most of the big clubs Trac would be interested in, would have to give up a star player to make room in their cap for him.

How do you imagine Carlton fit in his $5mil salary? Collingwood? 

They have to trade out to make space.

Trac turns 29 next year and could conceivably take a year to return to his best, if at all.

It's not unusual for superstars to still be contributing past 30, but would a club be willing to trade 2/3 firsties and/or a player for a guy entering his twilight? 

It would be different if he had one year left on his deal, or if we were desperate to get rid of him, but it's not. 

I just can't see any way this gets done.

Agree 100% ... so many eager to turn on Tracc when we all know his injury situation was really badly mishandled. A diplomacy offensive is required, not throwing stones his way.

Stkilda’s pick 6, 7 (Josh battle compo) and a future first (or second) for Trac? They’d have the money to take him on and are crying out for a marquee player. They were initially sniffing around Houston so they’re not hellbent on bringing in kids. That would set us up before Tassie big time. Perhaps if they continued on with their trajectory last year it would have been more appealing for Trac. He wouldn’t want to go there, but if you’re that desperate to get out you don’t call the shots.

People are attributing malice on Petracca's part over the initial story but no one actually knows who the source is, but even if it was someone from his camp he may not have wanted that info to get out anyway. Then if there are unresolved issues between Trac and the club it doesn't really make sense for him to come out and address it as he wouldn't be able to shut it down anyway. It would just add fuel to the fire.

It gets done if he wants it. And a smokey will emerge and pay overs if they're desperate for superstar power. This is one trade I can't see getting done unless we are *over* compensated.

Petracca is more likely to end up at North under Clarkson than St Kilda under Lyon imo.

As in trade to us or trade somewhere else for currency? The latter would be preferable!

From the euphoria of finally winning a flag to where we are now, I feel like the wheels are falling off.

We lost four finals in a row....ok it happens.

We lost a genuinely liked and talented player in Gus.

One of our fwds is still locked up in a dispute.

Oliver has been struggling for almost two seasons.

Anb wants to leave.

Rumors are abound that JV does.

And now this.

It ain't good. Something is not right.

Sure. But they aren’t giving up Curnow, Cripps, Walsh or Weitering one for one and I don’t think we’re all that keen on whoever else they’d dress up as a star like Cerra or McGovern level guys.

It would take a disgruntled star or maybe a hidden go home player like a Houston. Whilst I’d make calls on all the other top 50 guys and see if they’re open to a swap it’s very unlikely.

I think there’s a decent risk element to keeping Trac next year, given the toll this injury has taken on him/his support network.

He has always been a confidence player and I feel like that may take a while to properly come back.

No doubt he’s very good at his best, not many across the league can compare, but like we have seen with Oliver, things can change quickly.

Holding onto an outspoken and upset player with that much influence is a dangerous game
