There is no way that will happen. It’s 3 first rounders and the Pies only have a F1. They don’t have anyone they can offer us either. I think you can feel pretty safe about that one.

That would be a stupid decision, to go to Collingwood.

and we will be forced to do the trade.

Please explain how we will be forced to do anything given Trac has 5 years left on his contract? 🙄

The loss of Burgess has been keenly felt, I reckon. He was the instigator of leaving Jackson on the field at the end of the third quarter (Bang, Bang, Bang) - Goody just sort of agreed and broke the news to Max. Our injuries and our management of them - I don't know enough to compare Griffith and Burgess, but I do know that we have had plenty of problems with injuries 2022 onwards. Getting Burgess back (dream on) would be a major victory for the club.

First I’ve heard of this. I wonder if I’m alone in not having heard it 🤷‍♀️

I've said it here before but if any of Oliver, Petracca or Viney are traded I will cancel my membership. Not so much because they left but because of what led to it.

This is such [censored] amateur hour. 1965. 1980s. 90s. 2000s. 2020s. Not even a flag can save us from being just the same old Melbourne.

Midfield doesn't make him miss a simple target by foot or make errors under pressure.

Can't just put all the blame on the midfield for all our faults this season. Senior players like Lever need to take some form of responsibility and to me he's been poor this season.

His inability to spoil a much smaller and weaker opponent in Narkle pretty much summed him up for the year.

No I have no idea who's next best in line for captaincy.

I would have said NIBBLER .... but Wait!!

I think Oliver and JV will stay. It’s hard to gauge the true extent of the Trac issue but I’m leaning on him staying, but he’s almost 30 so if someone did offer us 3 first round picks then I’d take it in a heart beat.

If Trac goes …he goes because sadly we’re not a top 4 club (member wise) He loves playing in front of big crowds & what we dish up (crowd wise)  is not what he wants. He def wouldn’t go interstate (no MCG) there & so who knows who will come for him but I’d rather have Oliver & Viney (who will stay) because I believe they bleed red & blue (like Max) . I don’t feel that with Trac. He’s 29 played in all our finals series but didn’t make a difference in winning or losing so I’d def take the high picks if they come our way. I personally have lost a bit of love for him..still can’t believe he acknowledged Maynard after the Brayshaw act.

Some [censored] rang up SEN this morning (Essendon supporter, enough said), and suggested Peter Wright and Parish for Petracca. Sad thing was, he was dead serious.

That woulda been Dodoro.

I too have lost a bit of love for him now. But again it's not so much losing the player that bugs me. It's what it symbolises. We need to be beyond this sort of [censored] as a club.

This thread has jumped the shark. It's epic!

Admittedly, I, like nearly everyone on this forum, have absolutely no actual idea what Trac's gripe is but reading the tea leaves I assume it's 'standards' not crowd numbers.  He wants to win premierships. In his career, he has always come across as a total professional willing to put the team in front of the individual, which frankly some of his senior teammates don't.   But let's pile on him!   Obviously it should have stayed behind closed doors, but if he goes because the club and it's supporters didn't like it's dirty laundry aired out, sorry but you can't handle the truth.

From memory it was actually Max that made the decision to leave Dogga on. Pretty sure he mentioned it in at least one interview maybe a few.... I think he told Goody to leave Jackson in when he was due back on the field. Never heard of Burgess involvement.

That summary is spot on.

Max was due to rotate on in that last 5 - 8 minutes (or thereabouts) and Burgess got hold of Goody (or Simon might have asked ...not sure which) and Burgess felt LJ was (at that point) running hot.

Max has quite often mentioned that he was wrapped with the result and happy to take a back seat and defer the ruck duties for the remainder of the quarter to the young colt.

What a pitty Luke didn't honour our faith and follow through with a short contract extension.

I still believe we would have won at least one more flag in 22 or 23 if he had.

After about Rnd 10 in 2022 his body was running around but his brain had long departed out West (with a couple of exceptions...neither of them in finals unfortunately).

Simon or someone in the club must have had wind that he was on the way out not long after he agreed to go so i'm not sure why we continued to play him in the second half of 2022.  His abscence and missing moments (yes avoiding heavy contact / 2nd efforts non existent etc) was very costly and basically left us playing a man down on many occasions.

As much as i love that he helped us win a flag  i will always hold a grudge with his 2022 cut and run dufuss moment as i truly believe it cost us at least one more piece of silverware.  A very good player at times, but not the sharpest tool in the shed.

In the clip above, Simon also suggests this to Yze in the box as an option before consulting with Burgess and informimg Max.

Keeping in mind we are only hearing snippets of the miced up stuff.  There was alot going on lol.

That is literally the fifth version of the same events ive read in this thread alone.

True - I've just had another look at the film, and it's not really clear who made the suggestion - might have come from the box to Goodwin, or Burgess, or all multiple sources.

I'll retract my comment about Burgess's tactial nouse - but he was a bloody good high performance/injury bloke.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
