Cal would’ve linked us to Smilie with either pick if we were interested in him, I think it’s pretty safe to say we aren’t going to pick him hence why Richmond is thinking about locking in Allan with 6 knowing Smilie just has to get past the Saints. Which I am happy we’ve got no interest in Smilie he screams bust potential to me, he just doesn’t do the team things and tries to play hero ball way too much, for me I like Allan much more than Smilie.

It's possibly a few games being played as well, I personally think we've sent North a message that we're going to take Tauru, potentially so they don't slide down and we end up getting someone like Smith or Langford sliding to us.

THIS

I'm still holding some hope.

Would be a terrific ploy on our part to make one of Jagga or Draper available.

I'm sorry but this Tauru ruse doesn't make any sense. North have one chance to take him at 2, it doesn't matter what we say we might do at 5, they either pick him or they don't,  their next pick is in the 60s.

The only "slide" discussion has been to Adelaide's pick 4 and the same as above still applies.

Our interest in Tauru is not a ruse, it's genuine, I think we rate Langford higher and will take him if available but if not it sounds like Tauru at 5 - that's what Cal said today.

Of course it matters what we say, we've sent a clear message to North that if they want Tauru, they need to take him before pick 5. If they do this, we get what we want which is one of the premium midfielders sliding to our pick. This is no guarantee, but it makes plenty of sense.

If they slide down to pick 7 or 8 for example, and think Tauru gets past us, whoever gets that pick off North almost certainly takes one of those mids and we miss out again.

The most reliable path for the MFC to get one of these gun mids is for North to take Tauru at pick 2

It's funny. I came away thinking that perhaps Berry was being considered too. Three times he mentioned small forwards with mids and talls as possibles. Maybe he was just deliberately broadening the field to give absolutely nothing away.

Had the same thoughts. He mentioned the small group more than once unprompted.

Cal has pretty much said Lalor and O'Sullivan are locked in for the first two picks.

We will get one of Langford, Smith or Tauru. Anything else would be a surprise.

I didn't say it saw a ploy, i have no doubt our interest is genuine, but i think we clearly like others more, and making it clear to North Tauru doesn't get past 5 does help to nudge them in that direction.

I don't blame them if they take FOS instead, it just narrows the field for us, those of us, like me who would prefer Langford or Smith just have to hope the Crows or Carlton choose Draper.

Pretty comprehensive list there SONS.

I like that we've been linked to Zane Cochrane, looked fantastic last year as a bottom ager and got going later in the year for oakleigh.

Couple other names to look out for include Ben Kennedy, Patrick Said, Archie Caldow, Charlie Rozenes and Asher Eastham (could we go all gippy boys this draft?),

I'm hoping Ough becomes a slider to our last selection but hard to see that happening.

Thanks @nascent. I think youngsters like Max Donohue and Archer Eastham should get invited to Casey squad train on to see how they go. (Also Harry Doughton, Ben Hopkins and Charlie Orchard from Stingrays). Ben Kennedy is tough reliable running half back. Just classic footballer so agree with you that he might get a shot 👏👏

My take on it was we are not interest in Draper and would take Tauru before him. I assume we would take Smith if he was there and Langford was gone.

I just assume Cal is off the belief that Carlton will take Smith.

OK, final prediction time.

5. Langford

9. If Allen available, we trade pick 9 to West Coast for 12 and 26

West Coast get their local boy and we and we pick up a nippy goalsneak (eg Berry, Reid, Hotton) with pick 12 (15ish)

Then 🙏 PLEASE, hopefully Alex Dodson is still on the board and we snaffle him with 26 (30ish)

I then receive the Demonland Nostradamus Award, or request the mods delete this post. 😬

If Jagga is available he won’t get past our pick but he’s not going to be available because he won’t get past Adelaide. Which means what it comes down to is if Langford is available he will be a Dee, if Adelaide take him over Draper Tauru will be a Dee.

As long as Draper is picked before our pick we will get Langford, if not it will be Tauru.

In fairness, i think there is a very real chance that Tauru slides to our pick 9 as well, Bo Allen seems to be coming with a bullet.

There was plenty of discussion early on for North to trade pick 2 and a future first for pick 6 and 11 from Richmond.

That hasn't had a mention for awhile now though
