I’m just enjoying that nobody seems to know anything about anything. Makes this time a lot more fun with endless possibilities and opinions.

It’s a strong article and the journalist does know the footy youngsters quite well. I guess if footy journalism is your profession, you need to do some research.
Ā

I’d be amazed if the Crows picked Langford ahead of Draper. Ā But stranger things have happened!!Ā

It’s actually a good ā€œ40ā€. Ā In fact it showcases how much talent and how deep this draft goes. Ā
Players of high quality even outside this ā€œ40ā€ are :Ā
Kayle Gerryn - tall fwd/ruck - WA West Perth. Ā
Harry O'Farrell - tall def - Calder.
Lachie Jacques - running half back - Geelong.
Nathaniel Sulzberger - tall midfielder- Sandringham/ Ā Tassie. Ā
Jack Ough - tall midfielder - GWV.
Josh Murphy - tall forward - Murray. Ā
These guys should also be mid to late second round picks or at worst early third round picks.Ā

Pick 5 I want a tall, well built mid.

Both Cripps and Bontempelli pre-draft profiles are particularly similar to Langford and Smillie. However the slightly shorter more versatile Lalor edges both out for me.

These 3 can also hit the scoreboard regularly which besides Trac we desperately need as well as to add some youth to an ageing midfield profile.

As for 11 I hope say Smillie slips. If not next best mid available. Hotton sounds like a potential gun.

Interesting that Cooper Hynes gets a mentioned of an interest with our second pick....

It would be a reach at 9 but I don’t mind it as he could have a very high ceiling and looks a JT pickĀ

He could be a consideration if we take a smaller mid like Smith or Draper at 5 and Langford and Smilie are goneĀ

Links to Travaliga and a new one, Jack Whitlock too

No guarantees that we’ll pick one but I think it’s safe to say we’ve done a good hard look at the key forwards in this draft, and the medium forwards like Hynes too.

I don’t want to use a top 10 pick on him but Whitlock/s (both of them really) forward/ruck versatility would be handy.Ā

Not getting enough respect in my opinion. Runner up in the Morrish medal behind Lindsay. Club co-captain. Best mates with Langford, could JT pull the trigger.Ā
Ā Have met him a few times as he is from down my way and is going out with a girl I coach. A good size and frame also a real grounded, level headed kid. Yes we have spoken to him several times.Ā

Nah I like him mate.. he's an absolute beauty!

Do you think 9 is too much of a reach? Any inkling if we have said anything to him around our 2nd pick?

I feel like if we really want him we might split pick 9

I recon well end up with pick 2Ā

pick 5 and future 3rd for Pick 2 if north really want Tauru .

Ā

and hopefully split 9 get Hynes and Allen !Ā

That might be the only trade the AFL would ever veto

I am on the record as saying we need to bolster our midfield stocks, however I would like balance with our picks. Happy to take a bull with one pick but we desperately need a bit of speed and silk. I still stand by that, however I am not calling out the names. Given the connection could JT go Langford 5 and Hynes at 9? Both interchange with each other at Stingrays. Both seem to be JT type players. Have the flexibility of playing mid and forward and both only 4 and 5 centimetres shorter than Armstrong with better hands and physicality. Both also know where the goals are and are leaders with good character. Cooper injured his ankle towards the end of the season, nothing too serious though.
Ā No indication given where we would take him. A good question but in a very even and deep draft I don’t think 9 is unreasonable and being runner up in the Morrish medal supports that. I just didn’t think he was getting enough respect. Ā Murphy Reid is another one that I personally feel is not getting enough respect.Ā
Ā

Ā

@Dee Viney Interventionā€MurphyĀ Reid is another one that I personally feel is not getting enough respectā€. Ā Yes I agree somewhat. Reid is very good. Ā Imv he has shown high possession (avg 28 possession/game excl GF, and excellent footy decision making). A lot like Jagga Smith. Ā Reid is clearly a talented youngster. Ā But does he impact. Ā The answer is low impact. Ā Like Jagga, he compiles small handballs to others. Ā 57% of possession in Coates League this year were handballs. Ā Sure it brings others in but as Jagga said on Gettable, he needs to run more with the footy and impact in metres gained and targets hit. Ā Reid is very good and expect he might go between 12-15 in my view. Ā That’s not disrespectful. Ā It’s a strong top 20 imvĀ

It doesn’t matter whether we reach at pick 9. We have one pick between 5 and 80, so we just have to pick the player we like the most out of whoever is left. It’ll make no difference how that player is rated by the rest of the clubs.

President Green's email today indicated a priority for the midfield. Jones's employed Assistant mid coach. Thar tells us that pick 5 at least will most likely be a mid.

Still hoping North are forced to keep Pick 2, to give us more options.

Could get cold feet, but think I’m pretty set now. I want Bo Allan at pick 9. At 5 one of Langford or Jagga, but Allan at 9 for sure.Ā

Allan is pretty much the only of the midfield prospects that scares me. It's tough to coach a brain into a player!

If the draft is as deep as people are saying, are we in a position to obtain a second round pick for a future pick? Might be worth it.Ā

I believe because we've already traded a future first pick, we're no longer allowed to trade further future picks. Would have to check the rules.

We're more likely to split pick 9 for two later picks such as GWS' 15+16.

I think once we traded out the future 1st pick, then we cannot trade out the future 2nd round pick.Ā

I am unclear on this as Hawks traded their 2025 picks to get Barrass.Ā

The Hawks sent across a future first-round pick, a future second-round pick and a future third-round pick to the Eagles while securing the 29-year-old premiership player and West Coast's future fourth-round pick in the deal.
