Brent Harvey punched Godders in the guts behing play at least 2 or 3 times yesterday and nothing was done about it.

The most obvious was while corey jones was lining up kick for goal in 1st qtr. was in forward flank near old red seats area - the public area. There were no other players in the area - closest being the man on the mark who was at leastr 2O m away.

The officiating umpire - no 19 - clearly saw what had occurred as he spoke to bothe players as the ball was going back to the centre and clearly was warning Harvey. He went to Harvey first. ( Umpire 19 needs to be made accountable for not taking any action - eg if didnt see actual hit should still refer to the video review as obvious godders hit by harvey.) 4 field umpires wont make a difference if they dont act on what see (and cf McLaren who cats on wehat he doesnt or could not possibly see!)

Question is - when did a punch to the stomach not in play (cant be if only kicker and man on mark in play!) cease to be a reportable hit??? Perhaps its low impact?? Godders was only doubled up in pain for about 1 minute!

Godders went down several times during the game - always out of the play. Clearly opposition players are growing in confidence after Goodes was let off that they can hit Godders behind the play and not get reported. This is obviously not fair play. It is also very dangerous because the hit player is totally unprepared for contact. AFL and umpires need to deal with this immediately before someone gets seriously hurt ( like John Greening who never recovered fully from a king hit!).

Godders has been decked behind play every game for the last 4 weeks now, it's getting ridiculous.

It's all well and good to protect the "ball players" but sheesh. Something has to be done.

Its not good when that happens. Has Godfrey done anything to provoke it?

Many years ago the VFL tribunal members used to wonder why Terry "squirrel" Wheeler used to front the tribunal so often as a victim? <_<

the weird one for me was the one in the last quarter when corey jones had a set shot for goal. and in the replay the comms were saying he must have copped a knee to the stomach, but it looked like he got up straight after the attempted smother, then went down a few seconds after. did anybody see it?

I don't think we can blame Godfrey for this.

Yes, he is a pest and he annoys his opponent, which is what tough taggers do!

But I have never seen him hit, punch or scrag his opponent in an illegal way, and you can be sure the umpires would be all over it, if he did.

Brent Harvey is yet another weak opponent who couldn't handle the heat, but this is not a 5 year olds playground, you don't get to hit someone if they annoy you. Gees, these are grown footballers, they should be able to beat their opponent without having to resort to... well...beating them.

Brent Harvey will not even be investigated....

Godfrey is a tagger, a run with player that has done some very good jobs this year... he does not cheat like a steven baker, brad sewell, jared crouch as he does not scrag or block them as these players do....

Brent Harvey is soft - an outside player that does not like the hard ball and hence the issue!!

cool, so that means bruce can run around bashing crows midfielders next week and get off.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
